Re: Bach Flower remedies?

I wouldn't advise this if you are seeing actual symptoms. I used to use bach's flower remedy (rescue remedy) on very nervous rats for trips to the vet etc..but wouldn't use it at home if there is rattling. Then I would be watchign to see if the rat's immune system takes care of any problems or if th...

Re: Hairless rats eye

I had to have my nakie girl Lilith have to be gassed down and stuff removed from under her 3rd eyelid regularly. After she was just over a year old, it just got worse. She went a total of 8 times (twice we also had infections). We think she had a faulty tear duct and I would actually use natural tea...

Re: Vets bill

I have read about entropion surgery for dogs (thank you James Herriot!) where the lashes are actually in the eye rubbing and causing the eye to ulcerate, so they cut a little crescent-shaped piece out of the eyelid, and sew the edges of skin together to pull the eyelid/irritating eyelashes up and ou...

Re: Bronny - hard lump on face :(

OK, pics of pics...I tried Dr. Munn couldn't see anything and was really hoping when he used the scope he would see a rotten tooth, remove it and drain it for me and we could all go home happy. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h75/rattiluv/medical/Teeth%20and%20Mouth/bronnysscopeleftshowingnormalla...

Re: Bronny - hard lump on face :(

Bronny was lightly anesthetized so Dr Munn could put a scope in her mouth, and unfortunately she found that the inside of her cheek is all abnormal tissue, and likely cancerous from the appearance (I am pretty sure he said that). He took pics of that and her molars which are rather “old and gnarly”....

Re: Bronny - hard lump on face :(

eating fine, teeth are even (incisors), i had noticed her cheeks looked a bit puffier than normal (but her fur was poufed on a cold day), then gave her a feel evenly on both sides of her face.

No smell from her mouth.

Re: Bronny - hard lump on face :(

I am getting a lot of people telling me that older rats sometimes develop impacted molar abscesses which can be drained.

I am praying, she's the most special rat i have ever had. :hearts:

Re: Bronny - hard lump on face :(

Actually thats the Zymbal's Gland tumour and its nasty. It starts off seeming like an abscess or cyst, but underneath it is ZG. I have seen ZG with other's rats and its usually directly below the ear itself. Bron's is more on her jaw line.

Re: Lady has Eye Issues :(

An emergency came into the clinic yesterday who required surgery, so Lady had to stay overnight and she is being "done" today. The best part is that I will pick her up tonight and then tomorrow mornign I will be up early to drop off Theo for his neuter, and Angel for her tooth trim...I was...

Lady has Eye Issues :(

Little Lady is a feisty little rat who is older and needed older companions. she had some very elderly companions but she used to beat them up, so I ended up taking her in and putting her in with Eggy and Pinn. Now that Eggy is gone, she and Pinn are a happy twosome. Lady had a weird Big Eye issue w...

Re: Dodgy heart...prognosis?

In my opinion if there's very little improvement on the lasix (furosemide) and the fortekor (benazepril) he likely doesn't have CHF. He might have scarred lungs from untreated infections, COPD, etc. Would your vet be willing to try a shot or an oral dose of prednisone to reduce the inflammation of t...
