Re: Linseed oil

Good for shiny coats, metabolism and in age helps with joints!
We give it to all our rats in their wet food on an evening :)
Like acapae_wolf says you can buy big bottles, from either health food stores so you can have some  or from Rat Rations :luck:

Re: URGENT Rats eaten ..... (distressing)

Thank you all, they seem fine. It's pretty unlikely that a poisoned mouse would just happen to chose your rat cage as the place to die. It's much more likely that it went in there looking for food, and well, met an unfortunate end. It's not a very nice thought, but rats predate mice in the wild, so ...

URGENT Rats eaten ..... (distressing)

OK, a while a go I posted about a mouse being in our house. I got home today to find a leg in the rat cage, I was so worried I thought one of the boys had savaged another - I can only presume this was our mouse. So awful. Poor little thing  Now I really worried about the meat they have eaten wi...

Wild mouse in the house!?!

Ok, last week I saw a little mouse outside scuttling about in the bushes and thought nothing of it. This week I have found a few deposits behind our sofa and in the rats cupboard where we store their food. I am really worried as this is their play area and they will have come in to contact with the ...

Re: Would this Blue have clotting issues?

Vit K is suppose to help with clotting.

There have been a few threads on it, but I can't find them.......

Re: Shopping trip to B&Q! (Home made toys)

I (inspired by rattypetrolhead  ) have just bought a couple if deep rectangular plastic potting tray thingies. They're about 35cm long and 15cm wide and 15cm deep. I have cable tied one on to the cage bars and then slotted the other one inside that and filled it with substrate with a bit of f...

Re: Would this Blue have clotting issues?

My vet did a Nick test.
We had Wilson (Roan) and Alfie (British Blue) castrated at the same time, so both were nicked on the tail and time to stop bleeding was determined from the control rat (Wilson).
In the end Alfie clotted quicker than Wilson. :luck:

What at the minute do you want to get for your fuzzies?
Other than the day to day stuff.

Re: Ear and cheek pulling?

I have generally seen this when a rat wants badly to be dominant but doesn't have the physical ability or confidence to do it. I have found that it generally stops when the rat being hounded looses there temper and puts the offender in there place, or the offender becomes alpha, or I have them neut...

Re: Baytril burn - treatment?

I suppose it depends on the concentration / dilution - Rex's burn appeared over night! It turned in to a big horrible black nasty scab....see piccie, which was red around the periphery http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll127/hellsdragon_8/Baytrilburn.jpg The scar remained with him till he died. We ...

Re: Agnus castus berries

We used to mix the berries in with their wet food.
However, we got the tincture as we could not control the quantity as much and did not really know how much to give.
