Re: Best shop bought mix?

I use Hamster Extrusion sometimes.
Don't let the "hamster" part daunt you, though. It's a pretty good base.

I'd prefer to have Harlan or something, but I don't know where to get it. =S I'm in Canada.

Re: Litter training?

Cuteee!! I'd recommend just watching for a couple days and seeing where /they/ tend to like to poo and wee the most. Rats are very clean, and often prefer to do the MAJORITY of their movements in a couple corners (although spotting elsewhere is inevitable, especially with the boys  ). So just s...

Re: Dried Pasta

My ratters have always loved dried pasta! It's their fave!

However a friend of mine refuses to feed hers anything like dried pasta because one of her previous girls got it caught in her throat, of course couldn't throw it up, and died. :o

What are they REALLY doing? :P

Hey everyone! I haven't been on here in quite a while...it's a pleasure to see all of you again, though! (: I was watching my two boys Dash and Tux playing together, and realized that I've /always/ wondered what they're doing when they tackle each other. First, Tux (my dominant boy ;)) would get on ...

Bacterial strains between rats and humans?

I'm just curious, but how many (if any) illnesses can be transferred human - rat, or rat - human? It's for something I'm writing. :) Thanks!

Re: Question about the throaty sneezes/coughs!

They are almost eight weeks old, and they've been with me since Saturday. That makes sense if the sniffles have been a cause of the move, though, since they hadn't been sniffling previously. (When I checked them out before buying, too, I could hear nothing!) Alright, thank you so much! Give it a cou...

Question about the throaty sneezes/coughs!

Hey guys! I just got two baby brothers yesterday (I'll post more info and pics once I have some good ones!), and ever since I got them they've been having the sniffles/sneezes/coughs! I contacted the great lady who I got them from, and she says they hadn't been showing any signs of sniffling prior t...

Re: Very itchy skin and lots of scabs?

Thanks everyone! Alright. ^^

And excuse my ignorance, but are mites visible? If so, I haven't seen any little bugs crawling around... :o I thoroughly checked throughout her fur.

Very itchy skin and lots of scabs?

Tally has always been one to itch more than the others, but ever since Teah and Twix passed away (she's alone now ) she has itched so much that scabs are appearing all around her face/front leg on her right side. Is there anything I can do to make her not so itchy, or heal the scabs? I've been tempo...

Re: HELP!! Rolling around uncontrollably...!?

She made it through the night - thank gosh! Unfortunately our vet isn't open on Sundays. D: Or we DEFINITELY would've brought her in immediately. We've had to start manually feeding her because she doesn't seem too capable of using her paws to grasp the food. I'll update on what the vet says. Thanks...

Re: HELP!! Rolling around uncontrollably...!?

Thanks everyone. She's going in tomorrow. I just really hope she can last the night. It's getting worse, progressively. She looks like she's in lots of pain. There is a way to treat this, though, right?? ETA: And should she be alone for the night? DX Or should I maybe keep her with Teah and Tally? S...
