Re: boys=sticky 'orrible cage bars!

I bought a pressure washer for my cages Absolutely brilliant, it's a karcher and does a perfect job. I wipe down cages every 3 /4 days, once a week I pressure wash them, and every couple of weeks I scrub them down with bio washing liquid then pressure wash My rats have litter trays too, which really...

Re: new to rats getting two babys

I wouldn't recommend taking on such young babies as a first time owners
They should be over 6 weeks old and healthy.
Maybe you could tell us your location and see if there are any breeders or rescues on here close to you

Have you tried him with baby jar food. maybe you could try the pudding versions.

Re: Help me decide!

Might be best to wait TBH, I have 10 rats and they take up alot of time, obviously 2 would be less work, but they still need plenty of free range time and socialising Once you are settled and know that you can work them into your lifestyle then go from there. But thats just my opinion, good luck wha...

Re: Help Please

It could be mites, but as he is so young I would recommend you take him to the vet for Dx and right doses of proper meds.

Re: new rat kitten very small

As MickyB said, get the eggfood, it's brilliant for them.
My extra small rat boy also likes porridge, and (though I haven't tried it) I hear a lot of people recommend baby food
Keep an eye on the little one, make sure there is moist food available and keep an eye that she is using her water bottle.

Hi there, I have no idea about rapport, but it might be best to use newpaper/ shredded paper for the time being.

Re: Hands up who has cuddly quishy girlies?

My Himmy, Shelby, is a cuddly girl. Quite the explorer before hs ehad her litter, now she is all snuggly.
When she is out she makes a bee-line for me, no matter who else is around, it's quite sweet considering all the rats are my daughters, apart from Shelby who I got for myself.

Re: Looking for a link about Sawdust being bad for Rats

I used to use sawdust for my first rat, before the days of having the internet. He didn't suffer because of it and lived to a ripe old age, saying that, when I found out the risks I completely changed my ways
Thats the trouble, if there is a risk factor it is better to err on the side of caution.

Re: Marchioro Tom

This is the cage 2 of my boys are in, it is excellent and big. If I were to be picky I would say that, when the large door is open and you have to put your arm right in to clean shelves, etc, the cage does scrape your arms. Also would be nice to have a small door on the top I like the fact it is fai...
