Re: Intros - progression into larger cage?

Besides which, if things start to get a bit too lively etc you can always go back a step and either reduce furnishings or cage size again until they form a tighter bond.

Re: help with rescue rats

Rather than bathing them and causing stress I'd rather treat for mites and internal parasites and get them on a healthy diet with vitamin supplements. Once they are feeling better in them selves they will clean themselves up by grooming. Any serious wounds will need treatment such as purple spray bu...

Re: My Parkies are biting!

Have you tried good old Balance drops from Sabby. As you can imagine with 10 park related males all hitting puberty at the same time I've had my fair share of foofing and teenage tantrums, yet not once been bitten by any of them. As Amy explained, one of the muffins was neutered due to testicle inju...

Re: Rat pulling up cover during freerange..

try a cheap mat (probably won't fit in machine to clean) but you could try flotex floor tiles, they are about 18 by 18 inches and you can buy them individually or even a few planks of laminate flooring that can slot together then be stored flat somewhere. I use flotex in the top level of my explorer...

Re: SDAV

:( You must be going through hell at the moment. On both occasions that I had this, ironically the rats I lost were the ones that showed no symptoms, 3 big strong brothers 17 months old. After that the old and fraile passed. Those that showed symptoms such as porph, laboured breathing etc seemed to ...

Re: SDAV

I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear this and know what you are going through and that my thoughts are with you. I think you should add details to the contagious infection thread stickied at the top of health pages to let other rat owners know where you have been recently, where any rats have...

Re: Digging boxes

best to start small ie a cat litter tray with a good quality sterilised compost available from most garden shops. I use the sprouting seed mix from Rat Rations and millet seed, but you can grow herbs from seed or buy them potted from a supermarket and just plant them in along with cress etc. With fe...

Re: Lost rattie found me...

The tail damage he was found with suggests that he has been out for some time, which is a concern. When Chelsea was caught in the park, she was in amazing condition, shiny coat, bright eyes, no damage, yet she had been living in a burrow in the ground for at least 2 months and raised at least 2 back...
