Re: Calming foods for tiffing rats

There's nothing wrong with couscous, it's fine to feed. But.. it's not a drug. It's just a food. It won't make them calm or sedated (well, I guess if you feed them massive portions they might become drowsy afterwards the same way humans do after Christmas dinner ), and they certainly won't get...

hehe all my rats LOVE boiled egg, its always an instant win haha, my eldest got the yolk stuck to her nails the other day, because she was scoffing it and slapping it for some reason, haha it was very amusing to see her eating it off her fingernails like a mini kebab haha

Re: Calming foods for tiffing rats

I've heard that Bachs rescue remedy can help calm things down by lowering stress levels, it's not something I've tried myself but it might be worth adding a few drops to there water. I've used it on a stressed dog before but suspect it was more my wishful thinking than anything else that made him a...

Re: Calming foods for tiffing rats

I thought people thought that lettuce was calming, not cucumber? And I'm pretty sure it's because it has a soporific effect on rabbits, so rather than being calmed it's like giving them sleeping pills  too much of either will most likely just give your rats a runny tummy though, since they're ...

Re: Calming foods for tiffing rats

Erm, I'm not sure how proven any of that is.. Although chamomile is thought to be for people. The vanilla thing is that some people add it on all rats during intros to that they smell a little bit the same. Most people I know don't bother; rats aren't stupid  Who said cucumber is calming? lol!...

Calming foods for tiffing rats

hello everyone! this is going to seem a bit strange, and im sorry if i dont make an awful lot of sense, but i was told quite a while ago a few foods that help calm rats down, cucumber and chamomile tea being some of those. But i also got told a certain type of liquid extract can help too, by this i ...

Re: On Average?... eta - when will a doe give birth

For future reference, she was not very big to be mating her. Most breeders will wait until a doe is physically and mentally mature enough to have a litter, at 5 months she may or may not be mentally mature enough, but at 270g, she isn't physically big enough to cope well with a litter. she is copin...

Re: On Average?... eta - when will a doe give birth

I would leave her alone until much later on this evening. If you are going to be breeding I would recommend that you find out this information before hand. you are supposed to give the mumma a quick check a few hours after the birth to make sure she is ok, and there are no complications. i did find...

Re: On Average?... eta - when will a doe give birth

ok thank you all so very much for your replies! she has given birth today, the babies are beautifully vocal, and at a glance seem very clean, but they dont have milk bands yet, so im not too sure if they are feeding, she started giving birth at 10.30 this morning, so going by the information guide o...
