Re: The Nad Fairy!!

Not a clue of the usual process I'm afraid - I've not had to have any of my boys done yet (fingers crossed that lasts..). So I'll be interested to know what goes on as well. Hope it goes well at the vets though, nads or no nads! :)

Re: The Nad Fairy!!

Ooh, also, this may be a bit more help - invest in some thick gloves to pick the nippy critter up when he's in his cage. Or scoop him up in a tube/igloo (my very bitey one used to know that he had to get in his litter tray for me to pick him up - they're clever little things and soon learn not to be...

Re: The Nad Fairy!!

Don't know if this will help with your decision, but one of my boys goes through phases where he becomes quite aggressive, stomps round all puffed up and occassionally draws blood on me and rarely (but not never) on his brothers. I considered castration for him when he was a bit younger but he came ...

Re: Unisex names

A friend of mine suggested I call one of my rats "Trumpet". I didn't, but it is a very funny name! Maybe in the future...

CK - cause of my Rocky's sudden and fatal decline?

Hi all I wonder if people could give their opinions on whether my baby Rocky, who was euthanased on the 6th, was ill with CK. Or could it have been something else? He came from a petshop, I didn't give them any money for him, nobody wanted him because he was "vicious". They told me he had been taken...

Re: Snuffly rat

Sad news. I have had to let my boy go. I came back from work at lunchtime to find him struggling to breathe. Took him straight to the vet and now... Well at least he's no longer suffering. RIP my baby Rocky. He bit the vet. A fighter to the very end. Thanks again for all your support last yea...

Re: Snuffly rat

Hi all. I just wanted to send my thanks and best festive wishes to all who gave advice and kind words while my Rocky was ill  I'm sure you will be pleased to know that he's steadily regaining his appetite, playing with his friends Loki and Jester (my two new boys) and drinking more water. He h...

Re: Snuffly rat

He's eaten a couple of grapes which are his favourite, I tried syringe feeding him again but he makes it very clear he does not want. He puts his little paw on the syringe and pushes it away. He's also been hiding food and pretending to eat it. Thanks so much for your concern and kind words. I will ...

Re: Snuffly rat

Just got back from the vets. They were wonderful, but the news wasn't so great. Basically his lungs aren't working, or, bits are functioning very slightly and other bits just aren't at all. So he's had a shot of antibiotics, a steroid shot, we've got some Critical Care powder, and he's had some kind...

Re: Snuffly rat

Thanks so much for your response, I'm ever so grateful :) I see now that I should have made the title a bit more like "help, help!", oh it's tough being a newb. Well, tonight I am taking my poor Rocky to a specialist small animals vet which is miles and miles away. He's deteriorated totally over the...

Snuffly rat

Hi all. I've not long been a community member and already I've got a health query. Ick. Wonder if anyone can shed any light on this - I rescued a rat who had been mistreated as a baby and was very ill when I got him, incredibly underweight, dehydrated, sneezing, scratching, diarrhoea, you name it, h...
