Yeah you've got the right idea
Best to keep things nice and simple, instead of an igloo how about a good sized open hammock?

Re: What percentage of bucks need castrating?
Out of the 13 boys I've had in the last few years I've had 3 of them castrated. Ages ranged from approx 5 months - 18 months. Before that I had much smaller numbers and never had to get any castrated apart from one I took on due to his aggression to other rats and people - but he died during surgery...

Ooh you'll find heaps of cool stuff volunteering in a charity shop
You better watch out, before you know it they'll be no space to move due to all the new rat toys you've brought home!

Re: Would this Blue have clotting issues?
Well the good news is that Libby doesn't seem to have any clotting issues
Now I just have to wait for the blood test results...
The x-ray showed no crystals in her bladder, and they tried another scan but the machine broke down!

What a worry ((hugs))

It's so horrible waiting to hear if everything's alright, and the time just seems to drag by so slowly.
Like you say, they should be fine, these things usually are - but nothing's going to stop you fretting till you know for sure!

Re: Help for rat with PT, diabetes & urine infection.
Had to take Rueben to the emergency vet for some insulin tonight :( . His blood sugar was through the roof, and he was all floppy. I'm hoping he does a pee soon so I can check his glucose levels before getting some sleep. My poor Rueben, I hope he perks up again by tomorrow I don't want to say goodb...

Re: Help for rat with PT, diabetes & urine infection.
Thanks Snaisby, apart from drinking loads, and losing weight (which is probably a combination of the 2), and being a bit wonky, he is seeming ok in himself on the meds he is on. Still getting on with his usual ratty life of sleeping and playing and enjoying his food and snuggles. We've reduced the s...

Re: Help for rat with PT, diabetes & urine infection.

Re: Would this Blue have clotting issues?
Thanks Felix
my vet did actually mention trying her with some vitamin K, can't remember if it was in relation to the blood in her urine or getting the blood sample.
