Re: Urgently need advice - agressive rat

Fingers crossed. As ErnieG says, the age thing shouldn't affect things. I hope he chills out once he's been to the nad fairy. :luck:

Re: Urgently need advice - agressive rat

Sorry if this is obvious, but have you asked Werepuppy for advice? Might be polite/ a good idea to do so, plus she'll know the personalities involved. Good luck.

Re: Feeding live insects?

I've fed live mealworms a couple of times. The pet shop gives them to me for free as I only ask for a tiny amount. I place them in the cage two at a time and watch to make sure they're eaten, lest they escape and turn into those black beetle things. *shudder. Anyway, my girls go mad for them - seizi...

Re: Any Essex Breeders?

Where abouts in Essex are you? If you don't mind a bit of travelling, I can whole heartedly recommend Zephyr Rats in South Cambridgeshire (not far from M11) for the most gorgeous, cuddly and confident ratties. http://www.zephyrrats.co.uk/ I have two girls from Mary (Cyber Ratty on this forum). She's...

Re: My rat is aggresive... Help!

Well the advice you were given was very wrong - he definitely needs company and is likely to be a much happier bunny (ratty) in general with a friend or two. How old is your boy? Sometimes it's easier to intro young babies to older bucks. If he's young, the intros are usually easier. There might be ...

Re: My rat is aggresive... Help!

I second everything Betterstar has said. Make sure you check out other threads on here under "behaviour" as there seem to have been a lot of people posting about socialisation recently. There are some very good articles here: http://www.fancy-rats.co.uk/information on behaviour, taming your rats and...

Re: Elderly, lumpy fuzzy lady rat

I think Nessa's time has come. She's really struggling to get about and although is still chowing down (particularly nommy baby food) these lumps have grown in size to become more than just an annoying hinderance now - they're preventing her from living anywhere near a normal ratty life. We've just ...

Re: someone please tell me im doing the right thing? PTS

I'm so sorry to hear about your girly (and you too RPH). I think you do know when you're making the right decision with regards to PTS. I'm in a similar situation with my Nessa. At 32 months, her mammary lumps have got so big and one in particular is so large that she's really struggling to get arou...

Re: I need advice / help

What I am dissapointed about is that everything I am being told by you and the other owners directly contradicts EVERYTHING the "quick" find fact sheets tell you. There are very few things in life that are truly comparable to a "a quick fact sheet". I'm not doubting your dedication to these girls o...

Re: Elderly, lumpy fuzzy lady rat

I completely forgot, but yesterday was Nessa's 32nd month day. I'll be spoiling her tonight and posting some photos later. Lumps are popping up everywhere now. Two under one arm! :( Big main lump is even bigger than before and it means moving her foot is difficult (but not impossible). The slight "g...

Re: Air freshner

If it's really potent/ you're worried, secure ratties in a carrier (or two if you've got non-neutered boys and girls) and take them out the room for a while. Leave a window open too.

Parents eh? Bless them for trying to be helpful.

Re: I need advice / help

I've also noticed that when I try stroking them they also vibrate their ears really, really fast. Teehee! That almost certainly means they're in heat! My two year old girl still does that. You just have to touch near her rear end (or even her head if we're at a show  ) and she bunny hops forw...
