Re: Are supplements essential/ diet for older rats

I also think a diet high in fresh food is tastier and more exciting, and I strongly feel food should be pleasurable. I'd never get rid of a dry mix because obviously grain is one of the foods rats are most adapted to - but I do think it would be good if it was increasingly seen as one part of a goo...

Re: Introductions after cagemate's death...

What age is he and what is his general health like? That may help you with deciding if neutering is an option. If not, introing two young boys is another option.

Re: whats the best way of introducing new rats ?

I take it they're neutered? Intros are always best done gradually and on neutral territory or in a small cage/carrier. See the info section as I'm sure there is an article explaining intros.

Re: Linseed oil

Linseed oil or flax oil, just make sure it is the edible kind as crude linseed oil is also sold in DIY. See this link for info about it http://www.herbwisdom.com/herb-flaxseed-oil.html

I drizzle small amounts over my rats dinner.

Re: Fresh kelp.... is it safe to feed ?

I reckon that the quality for bathing is much different to actually having the water tested for harvesting seaweed for human consumption. My brother and his friend harvest seaweed for a living. His site is www.justseaweed.co.uk You might be able to get some info from it. The water needs to be very p...

It is advisable to make sure the water you fish it out is exceptionally clean as well.

I cut mine into lots of different sizes and use it to line beds, boxes and carpet (for under the log cabin thingy).

Re: Fleece bedding/lining for explorer

Hi there, I use one of those slightly quilted throws which has been cut into pieces that I fold over and simply tuck in underneath the trays. You could do the same with fleece as long as it's not really thick stuff. The pee doesn't go through to the plastic, it gets soaked up by the fleece or materi...

Re: Freeranging 2 groups at same time

We used to divide the rat room in 2 with correx and freerange at the same time. Use something that bends so you can bend the bottom along the floor to prevent noses poking intot he other side. Now we have managed to get our 2 groups to freerange together which makes life so much easier. There is th...

AW, it's a herbal formula that nurse Rene Caisse discovered from an medicine man and she used it to help treat people, mainly cancer patients. There's lot of info on the internet about it.

Whether or not that is actually right, i dunno. Its been a long time since i had to do any dilution calculations!
Thank you, so for a rat just under 300g, that would mean 0.1ml?

Working out dosage help needed pls

Hi everyone, I'm needing a little help in working out the dosage for Essiac Tea, which I want to try with one of my girls. It says that a cat weighing 4.5kg should get 2ml of the tea diluted in 2ml tepid water. So, I'm wondering how much I can give a rat? I think I was diluting it too much - 1tsp te...

Re: spot on for small rats?

Hi there, if you're concerned about using the product for smaller ones, you can use a little olive oil, this will smother mites and help to heal up the scab.
