hmm, i will get a photo so you can all see, my other rat dotty seems to have a smaller version of it. i thought it may be a scratch! i will check them over tonight and post a picture when i can, thanks!

it says something like that on the packet like, for rats weighing under 300g use the smaller animal packet (i think, don't quote me on this :P i will check)

hi i have bought some beaphar (i think i spelt that right) for the rats as they all have slight hair loss and seem to itch. it says it's for rats weighing over 300g, ferrets, rabbits etc etc but we don't have scales.. is this very important? are most rats over 300g? i'm going to try and get some foo...

went there in the end, jonas has been castrated! came through it will so far, touch wood ! :) thanks for the suggestions everyone.

one of my girls who is 2 years old has definate fur thinning on her shoulder area! not just thinning really.. you can see her skin. we had a vet look at her and she didn't.. do anything for it, :|
i am interested to whether it could be her diet. what multivitamin things are there i could get?

i'm glad you mentioned that! as the first girl to bleed..having had one course of baytril..still bled, and now after the second course, is still bleeding! :|

would this be reason for spaying do you think? do you think it's best even if she is coming up for two years also? thanks

thanks everyone surprised to get so many responses! aha. as i thought woodlands will be best! went there recently to have girly wepeel checked and hagrid the hamster too. they were so good, thorough examination, medication at a good price i will take jonas to get him checked over health wise and see...

i feel like that at the moment..or at least at the beginning of this..pattern. alan died recently after having a lump removed, which developed again, hagrid the hamster has a massive what we think is a tumour..after only a few months with us.. wepeel is bleeding from the vagina, jonas is a lone rat ...

another of our girls..dotty is bleeding..(2 years old) i am pretty sure it's actually from her vagina..as she so nicely weeeed a bit whilst hanging on the bars.. i saw the wee come out of one spot..and the blood underneath..from the other part ( i think! ) so i think it's pyometra, like in our other...
