Re: viral menengitis

Thank you. Just spoken to my vet this morning and he feels as helpless as me, out of desperation they are on abs but this is unlikely to be of any use :(

Re: viral menengitis

Im so sad as I have now lost Smurf from the same group of boys  It is so awful to see, the fits are so massive and so scary. Just two boys left out of five brothers.

Re: viral menengitis

sorry to hear about your boy, it is so scary how quickly it happend. Smeagle had the first fit at about one oclock by three he had gone. I honestly saw no signs of illness in either of them. I have just checked them all again and they all seem ok, they have all just tucked into roast potatoes, bruss...

viral menengitis

On friday I found one of my siamese boys lying dead on the bottom of the cage. He had showed no signs of being ill, was a good weight and looked in the bloom of health. So it was a huge shock, there was not a mark on him either. He lived in a cage with his four brothers. Today whilst cleaning the ra...

Re: URGENT LINK TO RAT SWING PLEASE

I hope she is ok. Sadly I had a rat who did this and in the end it turned out to be a tumour in his stomach. Even horlicks would cause him to start gagging and choking. I hope this isnt the case with your little girl, sending her healing thoughts

Re: twisted neck?

I agree she should have at least a months abs and a steroid injection. Baker came with a head tilt ( hutch boy) really severe from an untreated ear infection. It took three months of abs but his tilt is almost gone. Syrus has a head tilt, sadly from a stroke, so abs wont help him. It really is worth...

Re: My new foster boy has some problems I'm not confident with.

After the abcesses burst it does leave a crater like hole. I think wedsneday is fine, its only if it goes really angry looking, purpley red and gets hot, then he will need to go sooner. I wouldnt personally put wound powder as it cakes in the hole. But purple spray or an anteseptic cream will be fin...

Re: My new foster boy has some problems I'm not confident with.

Murphy had bumblefoot really badly, he was never kept in dirty cages, no wee soaked bedding etc. The vets assured me the cause was more likely to be genetic predisposition. Sadly Murphys bumblefoot never ever cleared up. Both his feet would swell, turn very purple, hot to the touch, then the abcesse...

Re: My new foster boy has some problems I'm not confident with.

Sadly I cant see the pic of the porph, but his bumble foot looks as if its scabbed up and not weeping, so thats good. I would give him a two week course of abs for it and also rub in honey twice a day. This really helped my boy, his bumblefoot was really bad though. I hope your new boy settles in ok.

Re: Dock Leaves?

Apparently dock should not be fed to animals when in flower or seed, they become toxic. According to my vet when my horses paddock was full of dock :o
