Re: Cages for 8 does
I have 6 does in a Liberta Happy House, but I think it would easily house 8. It doesn't have a deep base though but I've got a cat litter tray to one side with a deeper layer of substrate. My girls love it!

Re: Turning a dog crate into a ratty home...
O god have got serious GMC now! I've been trying to decide on what to replace my old Duetto with, and I'm thinking 2 of these stacked is the answer!

Protein
I want to change the protein source in my next mix instaed of the dog food, just for a change. I was thinking of using dried mealworms and dried shrimp or fish from Rat rations? Would I need to add the same percentage of this as the dog food or a lower percentage? Also any ideas of any etxras to add...

There's the Johnsons one. It's called Vitmins I think, though I've never used it.

Re: big fat* boys ... breeding for size?
I don't think a breeder can be blamed for making a rat they bred, but in a pet home fat. That, in my view is the owners responsibility. Also, I think some rats are far more fond of food than others!! I have two brothers from the same litter and one of them did become a little bit fat. He gets far mo...

Re: Photos of Essex
I have three Odyssey boys, two of which are capped, Jack and Cody

soup mix
I've bought some of this today to go into the dry mix. I'm a bit unsure now though if it's ok to go straight in or if I'm going to need to soak it first? It contains pearl barley, yellow split peas, green split peas, marrowfat peas, red split lentils and adzuki beans.

Re: Can you keep female rats in Abode cage?
The only problem I had was the bars next to the frame. They seem to be a little wider than anywhere else. I just meshed these for a little while until they were large enough. The tray also maybe a problem if yours are chewers!! You could just get a metal tray for this. All in all though it's a fab c...

Re: Use of Catsan in rat litter tray
I wouldn't of thought Catsan would be a good idea to be honest. The only litters recommended as far as I'm aware, are 100% paper ones like Back to nature. I'd personally just put the bedding in the litter tray aswell until tomorrow when you can get something more suitable.
