Re: what is going on?! (INTROS)

Hi I am doing an intro just now as well, i have been using a wide bowl to feed my boys, it`s wide enough for everyone to get around it, i also scatter some food onto the floor incase someone is not getting much from the bowl, but mine are all on dry mix so a bit easier. Maybe you could take out the ...

Re: what is going on?! (INTROS)

I would put them back in the hamster cage or a carrier and leave them there for a couple of days (including overnight) if you keep seperating them its kind of like starting from scratch the next time they meet. It does make you feel mean but it really is worth it when they beome friends. I recently ...

Re: intros gone well??

Yeah it might be a god idea to keep them in the small sized cage until they get through the fighting stage and settle a bit more, sometimes if you move them up a stage too quickly it unsettles them. Good luck.

Re: shakes head after petted?

Hi, Diesel lived with his brother Casper, Casper was the alpha boy and Diesel was always a big softy. I didn`t notice a massive difference in his behaviour with his brother, he would sometimes get a bit grumpy with me when i used to clean him up after he had lost use of his back legs, but he never b...

Re: Is 31 months too old to introduce babies?

When i lost Diesel unexpectedly it left his brother Casper on his own, he became really quiet and he used to sit in the cage looking sorry for himself, i used to let him out to spend the evening with me, but it wasn`t the same as having constant rattie company. When i got the new boys and we complet...

Re: Is 31 months too old to introduce babies?

Hi, I succsessfully introed 3 babies to my 27 month old buck about a month ago. I was a bit worried as well about the stress of the intro and i thought the babies would possibly annoy the hell out of my old man, but it went fine and Casper really loves his new friends. He pretty much ignores their s...

Re: shakes head after petted?

My boy Diesel also used to have this behaviour, he also used to arch his head whenever we gave him a scritch on the top of his head. I used to think it was really cute until we found out he had a PT, and these are some signs of it. Diesel lasted about 4-5 weeks before i had to have him pts. Really s...

Re: Should i listen to my mum? Or is she just spouting nonsense?

I have recently intro-ed my 27 month old boy Casper to 3 8 week old babies, i had similar worries as Casper was pretty old i was worried that the young ones would really annoy and stress him out, but after a few weeks, the intro was all done and to see him cuddled up with the little ones is so nice....

Aaaw thats brill, when you see result it does make it all worthwhile. I remember the pure joy i felt when i saw my lot curled up together in the hammock for the first time, and my oldie Casper is so much happier with his new friends.

Re: Pituitary tumour

Sorry to hear you are going through this, i too lost a boy to PT, in May. At first i thought it was HLD, but over a couple of weeks he went from climbing to the top of the cage to not even making it up a ramp, also being unable to hold food in the front paws, being really disorientated and i frequen...

Re: All in together!!

It is really hard not to intervene, but a few small cuts or scratches is ok, you only need to worry if they are really properly fighting. It can take a while for them to bond. If i were you i would ignore your OH, my son kept winding me up that it wasn`t working in my last intro as my oldie boy was ...

Re: All in together!!

Lol, Yeah they do seem to sleep loads and i agree it probably is boredom, theres nothing to do except sleep. But i would leave them in the carrier overnight and see how it goes, if they seem to be sleeping and sharing ok you could move them up a stage, to a small sized cage, leave it bare again and ...
