Re: Is this a black or brown rat?

Hes lovely. I just hope he isn't quite so confident with non-rat people who might inflict damage to him if he comes too close!

Re: open cyst (unpleasant description)

I also meant Ricco had the lumps, not Peppin! I had just had peppin out giving him his meds (resp issues) so had him on my mind while I was typing

Re: open cyst (unpleasant description)

No, I'm quite sure it isn't an abscess and is a cyst, especially due to the time it took to 'open'. Ive dealt with abscesses before and they were never like this and certainly didn't smell as bad so definately seems like a cyst rather than an abscess. I think I might have some metacam somewhere so w...

open cyst (unpleasant description)

peppin has had 2 lumps for about a year now. one got a scab on the other day and i treat him for mites as i didnt realise it was actually the beginning of the cyst 'bursting'. got home from work just now and noticed it has scabbed over more and looked pussy so from reading on here i tried to squeeze...

Re: vet app at 3 today. severe resp issues-med advice

Thank you for replying Debz :) Its another vet at forest hall. I went with them despite Judith not being there as I know that although they don't know much in comparison to Judith, they know a lot more than other vets Ive seen. I was going to ask for bisolvin but thats my only idea so far. He also h...

vet app at 3 today. severe resp issues-med advice

Re: weight

I weighed my Peppin yesterday. He weighs just under 300g :( He has always been a big rat and while he was healthy he was always 600-650g. He is 33 month old and so brave :hearts:

Supplements/vitamins for old rats.

My peppin is 32 month. He has breathing issues and hld, he is absolutely tiny and I would guess he weighs just about 300g (he was 600g during his healthy days) but haven't yet weighed him to be sure. He gets the usual supplements like calcivet, squiggles and senior aid but I want to know if there is...

Re: Superpet Chew Proof Bottle For Rats?

Its a really big bottle and has a cute little duck in so looks good- if Im thinking of the right one. I had mine for a few month but obviously with it being glass, when I refilled it in the sink one day, it was slippy in my wet hands and dropped into the sink and smashed. I like the bottle though. I...

Re: A compact cage large enough for two rats but in a box room?

You wont find anything suitable for £50 that isnt second hand Im afraid. Second hand cages would be fine. 2 of my 3 cages have been second hand with no infection or disease. A good clean will make them ready for new rats. You can get perfect condition second hand cages too for a decent price. A fred...
