Re: Joey, I will never kiss you again :(

My little Shenzi seems to have a taste for the other rats droppings. Earlier I had my girls freeranging, when suddenly Shenzi came running at me with a massive, freshly made poo in her mouth. It must have fallen in one of their water bowls because it was also very wet and dissolving all over her paw...

Limping

I think my rats are out to get me with all this illness :x About 2 weeks ago one my girls stopped using on of her front paws and would not put it down. There were no cuts/swelling and she let me fiddle with it without kicking up any fuss. I left it a few days to see how it panned out and within 3-4 ...

Re: Could I get some advice?

Thanks for these very helpful posts, I'm going to make an appointment for Wednesday, armed with a list of questions to ask my vet. As if to make matters worse, another one of my girls has developed a lump, in the same place as the other two. How unlucky can I get having three rats all develop squish...

Could I get some advice?

At this moment in time I have three female rats who each have a lump. Two of them are roughly 15 months of age, and one is 21 months. I was told that Charlie and Courfeyrac were sisters and they've both decided to get a small squishy lump under their right arm. I noticed Courfeyrac's on Thursday and...

Re: help with administering ronaxan?!

^^This! My girls always lap up chocolate Soya yoghurt whether it has Ronaxan, Baytril, Bisolven etc... mixed in. As for making sure they get the right dose, could you not ask your vet to cut up for you? When I do it, I use a very sharp knife and cut it in half, then half again etc.. I found it fairl...

Re: Recurring Abscess

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear that your girl is going through a similar thing, I wish her a speedy recovery.

As for Charlie's weight, I'd say she's probably where she should be. She's does a biggish bone structure but she weighs just under 400g and has no overhang or 'stodge'. :)

Oh my goodness, yes! My little girl Zombie (R.I.P) used to love tampons! Despite not having a smell, she'd sometimes spend hours trying to break into the side pocket of my bag to get them out! She seemed to have a sixth sense about them

Re: The big taste test..

This thread is amazing! I'm so glad I can use my veganism as an excuse not to try any of my rat's food. The only things they eat that I'd ever try is pumpkin seeds, corn on the cob, alpro soya yoghurt and monkey nuts. Bit of a cop out really  And a big Urgh! for those that have tried wet ...

Recurring Abscess

My little girl Charlie seems to have developed a nasty habit of getting abscesses. First she had one on the right hand side of her face. It took a lot of time to come to a head but after a couple of weeks I managed to scrape it out and it healed fine. Then a week after her facial one came to a head,...

what just happened?

Vegan was running around on the floor normally when suddenly she did something strange. She twisted her head so that it was completely on it's side and then kind of scraped the ground with it. I'm not sure whether she was intentionally scraping the ground or whether something was causing her to do t...

It seems she has developed another huge lump on her throat! Again, it has come up in a matter of hours.
Why is she getting lump after lump?
