Re: Vets bill

I am a bit confused by our vets. A couple of weeks ago my cat decided to eat an elastic band, she had treatment and had to be kept in, that cost £41.16. Last week Rascal had a swollen foot so I took him in, they asked if I could hold him while they tried to drain fluid off to see if it was an absces...

Re: Worried about Rocky

Sadly we lost Rocky two weeks ago. He was limp and lifeless in his cage, he'd been fine still eating and drinking so not sure what the cause was.

Swollen/limpy foot

Saturday morning I went in to check on my boys, I had made them all yummy egg. Rascal wouldn't get up, he is quite lazy when he wants to be. He eventually got up and he was limping around. When I looked his back left foot was swollen beyond belief. (see picture) http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/uu...

Worried about Rocky

I have lost two of my boys this year, both of whom lived with Rocky. I have another pair who live together and always have and Rascal who has from the age of 8 months been on his own (long story but he is happy like this) When we lost Remy I was determined to try and get him and Rascal back living t...

how are you and your ratties keeping cool today?

Seeing as it is stupidly hot today i wondered how everyone is coping, rodent and human alike? I am one of the lucky ones at work who has a fan so I am quite chilled. I gave my boys frozen banana this morning and part froze their water bottles, they all have chin-chillers in their cage as well as the...

Re: Rat castration?

When I had Rascal done it cost me £56 but that was everything, the op, meds after so all in all very good. Personally I wouldn't have any of my boys castrated again. In Rascals case it was because he was aggressive, always fighting and biting us. He has calmed down so much. But he has had to have fo...

Re: Tail amputation

Thanks guys for your advice, I had a look at his tail this morning and it actually looks better so fingers crossed we won't have to have an op but I am not counting my chickens yet as they say. May just book him in for a follow up appointment on thursday and see what Mary the vet says, she is the ni...

Re: Tail amputation

My Nova got bitten on the base of his tail, and infection set in horribly quickly in his case. He was on antibiotics and twice-daily cleaning within a couple of days, but the infection gradually got worse. Once the scab came off, a large amount of bone was visible, and obviously we had no choice bu...
