Re: Vet check
I have in the past, but I think I would probably not bother now. I sometimes take others along with me when I go with whoever needs to go, so they are all registered etc. Last time I went with newbies for a general check I got charged a Whopping £32 consultation fee to be told they were perfectly he...

Re: Flat Packable cages
I've had the ferret 100 double by imac at one point(larger bar spacing but similar sized) and I loved how easy it was to flatpack! Easier than the ferplast cages in my opinion, similarly sturdy once you figure out how to put it together, lol. Shelves were somewhat brittle plastic, and being second h...

Re: Changing groups/moving rat(s)from one to another??
One of the reasons we put the boys into this group was that the other girls are younger and still very active, when we tried to create a single group, of all 9 ratties, we found the other 3 active pingy girls never really bonded with the others. When I say recently, it has been about a month maybe 6...

Love charity shops! (with pics)
I just started volunteering at a charity shop, and today I brought home a pair of tiny wooden childrens chairs £5 for them both! They are amazing, really strong, solid wood, gonna paint them up and use them in cage. I wanted a wooden wine rack for ages having seen other people use them, but I think ...

Re: GMR.... What about GMC??
ah I have a bad case of this right now. Have promised myself that when I get a new job I can buy an SRS, my dream cage, and its only about £244 on ECF, with 10% off thats only £219! :D Currently only have: Furet Tower(which I am slowly growing to loathe) critter 2 and furet plus. wanting to bin/get ...

Changing groups/moving rat(s)from one to another??
I have a recently bonded group of 6, 4 girls and 2 neutered boys. I have noticed that the one girl Badger, who has always been a bit dominance mad/ the bully/little madam is starting lots of fights with the harmless squishy boysie. Sometimes when they scuffle they almost reach the point of rolling b...

Jumpy rat, dominance issues or something else?
I've never really been sure of who is who in the group in terms of dominance. Now I have 6 I have even less idea! Whisper has always been very sensitive whenever you touch his rump area, or when other rats generally go near him, and this seems more pronounced now he is in a larger group. Just having...

Re: OH spoils them... now they won't eat half their food!!
Yeah, I have told him a few times look, they need to eat all of it, he agrees, but then he feels sorry for them so gives them more food anyway  It's going to take a while to teach them they have to eat these bits I have a feeling. I am mostly worried because I have left them with these bits fo...

OH spoils them... now they won't eat half their food!!
It's been driving me mad since I realised it! Basically we moved in together recently, so we have both our rats, but before this I would make a big batch of my striaghts based lovingly homecreated from scratch mix to feed them instead of a mix of rabbit food and p@h rat museli kind of things. So I t...

I'd never heard of either Bactrim or carprofen but you are correct that he shouldn't be on baytril and I wouldn't switch back to that. From what I can gather bactrim sounds more appropriate than baytril if it was a swelling under the eye. Um, i don't really know, but have a read of those two pages t...

Re: Plastikote - what do I need?
Having brush painted an entire critter 2 before(with 2 coats to ensure it was thick enough) i would highly recommend spray type paint. Simply because it took forever to paint with a brush, was hard to get consistent thickness and would drip and was just a bit of a nightmare!

Private messaging question
Just a quick question, um, when I send a message, it goes into the outbox folder with a (1) next to it, does it stay like this till they have read the message? Because thats what I always thought it was, or is it something else? (if it is that it's rather useful

Re: Bathing abscess, doens't seem to be draining? Help!
Thanks guys, I never got a call back from the vets :/ He is on combined baytril and Flagyl S, and I gave him some metacam yesterday as well as he seemed really uncomfortable. I don't have any hibiscrub but have heard about it, can I buy it anywhere? I suspect you are probably right debzratties, it s...

Bathing abscess, doens't seem to be draining? Help!
Well smudge came back from the vet with a lovely open wound to bathe/flush twice a day, and some medicinal honey to apply afterwards. Now my problem is, I can feel the abscess under the skin, and I have been bathing it, can clearly see that it is an open wound, but can't see anything draining, I Jus...

Re: Green Mile or Ecobed
I have had both and I prefer green mile, it's a bit better for them to nest, and i found that it gave more consistant absorbancy than the squares. However at the moment I am combining Hemcore with Green Mile and I am really happy with the results. Absorbancy, a distict smell from the Hemcore but not...
