Re: How to get them out of their house

I have a "rat bag" that I put my rats in. I carry them round the house in it and it is the place they run back to during free-range when they are spooked by something. Now the younguns have been here a few weeks they come out of the cage and climb into it. When they were first here they came out in ...

Re: Explorer with no divider in middle

The middle shelf slides in and so it would be easy to make a safe divider out of suitable material provided it fitted in the slots. You could then have the option of splitting it into two totally separate cages. Not sure what material would work...sheet metal of the right thickness coated in somethi...

Re: Aspen or 100% paper based cat litter?

I use Finacard litter in my litter trays and Finacard or Ecobed as substrate. Finacard do great products at great prices :) The finacard comes in a massive bale and last one cage about 6 months! I order the maxi-bale of finacard with litter and bedding :) It is £22 including delivery. I use it with ...

Re: Plastic boxes for Explorer

It's (( These Boxes )) but as above you'll need to chop a bit off. :P I've got one of them for the base of my Explorer but didn't need to chop any off. I used to put it in without the self and it fitted brilliantly! I don't use it now but it makes a wonderful storage box under the Explorer for all ...

Re: Possible to combine 2 Furet Plus cages?

I was going to do this with 2 Furet Plus's but ended up buying an Explorer. It would have worked but the cleaning out would have been a nightmare! That is what put me off!

Re: If you could give just one piece of advice . . .

Don't get too stressed over intro's...ratties are mind readers, they will sense your unease! Do your research and then go for it...with some thick leather gloves on standby and a first aid kit

Re: Investment Time - Explorer or Royal Suite?

I'm having this dilema too. For me the cost is a big issue but also I'm interested in making a three level cage and not sure if this is possible with the SRS? For me it is the perfect cage, it looks smart, is easy to clean, the ratties love it and I only paid £122 including delivery! Do tell where ...

Re: Investment Time - Explorer or Royal Suite?

I have an Explorer and I love it! I even love the plastic trays as I can take them out every week and wash them in the bath! I have lined mine with correx which stops the substrate coming out and also gives the ratties some privacy! I don't notice the doors rattling and have no issues hanging hammoc...

Re: Smelly Rats...not urine

Thanks! Will have a read through the suggested thread, have been giving them fish with there dinner and so think will give up the dog kibble. I am quite sure human grade 'protein' sources will be better for them anyway ;)

Re: Smelly Rats...not urine

I took the ratties out for the clean out on Saturday and did what I normally do, take trays out and anything else that can be washed and washed them in the bath with fairy washing up liquid. I wiped the correx down with baby wipes and took the correx bases out and wiped them too. Then I put it all b...
