SDA and 3 week old kits

I am pleased to say that we are coming out the other side of the SDA virus we have had here. We lost 6 rats within the first 72 hours and then with round the clock nursing managed to pull everyone through. Not sure how we didn't lose more as we had so many very sick ones. Everyone is almost back to ...

Re: Harrison's banana brunch

I buy an equivalent from www.food4wildbirds.co.uk. They do a fruity pellet free rabbit food for £17 delivered FOC. It is a great food and I order that alongside a fruit & nut hamster.

Re: ZGT questions?

The three ZGT's I have head here have all presented out of the blue. They have been beneath the ear at the side of the face. They have all been very hard. They have all been very aggressive and all three rats were pts within a week as it was growing very quickly and causing them immense pain. Two of...

Re: What does this look like to you... abcess??

Just back from the vets and the vet said it was most definitely an abcess and it has been lanced and drained. I have had 3 with ZGT and it doesn't present like that. I am hoping she scratched herself a bit deep and its abcessed.

What does this look like to you... abcess??

This doe is 8 months old and has developed a swelling on the side of the face. I don't feel this is a ZGT. She also has a hard pea sized abcess on her back. She had a litter 8 weeks ago. She had SDA a month ago. The swelling is soft and moveable so I am thinking an abcess. http://i302.photobucket.co...

Re: Advice with babies

Personally when I have had feeder bred stock in who have never been handled and lived in RUBS I put them onto a very milky mix of Quiko, Readybrek, Sweetcorn and some Natures Diet Puppy food and they do lap that up. Handling wise I get them out and into a dressing gown or under a fleecy blanket and ...

Re: Ebay item

To make the listing photo he said it will take four packs which makes this VERY expensive for what it is. Shame as it looks good for babies to play in.

Re: Somewhat Lethargic and lumps on throat Please any info!

I am going through this now and you have described what mt rats have had. I have confirmed SDA from an unknown source. As far as I know the only virus that causes lumps in the throat is SDAV. Are the lumps like walnuts at the front of the neck making the neck look like excess skin and a bulldog shor...

SDAV

I am pretty sure we have got SDAV here. I noticed symptoms on Sunday with some ill rats looking tired and porphy and with very laboured breathing. A friend also reported the same symptoms two days before in her rats. I lost one middle aged girl yesterday and today I found an old girl dead. One cage ...

Re: What do you do with a rat like this?

Yes I have had an identical rat to this in every way. I neutered him and he lived with two nice girls as a three. He was such a happy happy boy. I rehomed them as a three with strict instructions not to ever separate them and then find out she gave away the buck and put the two girls in with her gro...
