Re: Whats The Difference
Damn, thats some nasty looking rust :( I'm sure it could be sanded off fairly easily though and painted over though. My Explorer is a long way off. (As is any ratties) Got to get our house sorted so we can move in, then we have to build our rabbit shed and get them sorted and decorate the house prov...

Re: Whats The Difference
I've just been looking through the set-up pages and I have to say, I think its the Explorer for me! Can babies go in an Explorer okay? And is the shelf removable, and do ferplast shelves fit in? (Seen some pink ones on ECF i'd much rather use than boring grey!) What are the Explorer trays like? I al...

Re: Whats The Difference
I've had my Explorer well over a year now and I have no rust on mine. I have had 10 in mine up until last week and am now down to 9. I wipe it down weekly with dilute vinegar to remove traces of pee and give it a good srub with soapy water about 3 or 4 times a year. I really don't think they are pr...

Re: Whats The Difference
Thank-you all for your replies. I was looking at the Explorer, but then I read that they go rusty :/ The srs is a nice cage but the colour is just urgh! I suppose the Explorer could be painted in Japlac or Plastikote? Which would probably prolong its life and stop it rusting? Why does it rust anyway...

Whats The Difference
Between the Ferret Nation, Explorer & the Savic Royal Suite?
What are the pros & cons?
Which is the best one to get?
If i'm gonna fork out for a nice cage id rather get the right one to begin with rather than waste alot of money when I could have had something better

Re: How many rats in a freddy 2? and are they good cages?
The Freddy is a great smaller cage. I find its a bit limited on what you can fit into it due to its smaller size when compared to a Jenny but its a great cage. The bars are coated and it has a good size door for easy access. I'd probably be okay with 3 lazy boys in one, but probably only 2 girls as ...

Re: 4 girlies in a Freddy 2
I'm sure with regular free range time they will be fine untill you can find something bigger. You could always get another freddy and make a tower or connect another cage onto it to make it a big bigger? Check preloved and your local freeads or maybe put a wanted add on the forum, i'm sure you will ...

Re: cage shelving
Over 1kg :o I NEED to see pics of this mega-rat! I'd still be inclined to set the cage up so he has to walk about/climb a bit as this will help with the weightloss. I'm sure some sort of rope will be fine if set up on a slight angle so he can walk on it and not on a steep angle. If its thick rope he...

Re: cage shelving
Do you have any cable ties handy? You could always cable tie a plastic lunchbox or something similar upside down to make a shelf, or up the right way to make a sort of slep-in-shelf. You can use hammocks as soft shelves I don't see why rop wouldn't work as there is more to grip on rope than there wo...

Re: Adding Eyelets?
I buy the eyelet kits from hobbycraft - they have a different style tool for holding the eyelets in place while you bash the hell out of them with a hammer :D Loads of fun if you're a bit peed off about something  Ooooo now that sounds fun as well as theraputic! Will have to have a look at th...

Adding Eyelets?
How do you do it?? I tried adding some once to some tea-towels but it really didn't work at all! I bought an eyelet pincer thing off ebay and some eyelets but the pincer didn't seem to squeeze them tight enough so they were loose and kept falling apart. I also broke the pincer and had to buy another...
