Re: Vets bill

I paid £120 for Rooney's eye removal and neuter, so I'd say £81 is very reasonable.

Hope she continues to heal ok. :luck:

Re: Advice needed for Intro Cage

Mine have nothing at all (bar substrate, scattered feed and lots of water bottles) when they first go in together. Once they're all sleeping together I add a large open hammock.

Re: Should i listen to my mum? Or is she just spouting nonsense?

I introducedt two boys at 2 years old to a pair of 4 month olds. It wasn't the easiest of intros, but the oldies looked after themselves and they became a very bonded group. One of them was the best alpha I had and taught the youngsters some very important manners. It also livened up my old boys loa...

Re: Holiday Cage

I've had 10 in my XL for 10 days while I was on holiday and had no issues. I'd have no problem putting a couple more in as long as it wasn't for an extended period of time. I also have a Tommy 82 T3, but it's a bit of a fiddle to put up and doesn't seem to me to give a lot more space than my XL. It'...

Re: Tilty dude rehab

Ask not-ginger - she has a very tilty boy (who is an absolute sweetie :hearts: ) I don't make any cage alterations for Roobarb. He's still very agile and active, just with a tendancy to fall off things! I just make sure I have no long drops but I'd do that even if he wasn't in the cage. He has howe...

Re: Project Duetto [immense cage restoration] *img heavy*

E pinksaffy - I don't much like doing bars either heh. They're so fiddly. It makes me think of horsey people and the distinct preferences people have as to whether they wouyld rather clean a saddle or a bridle  Bridles, any day. :) I had a synthetic saddle anyway so I don't think that counts....

Re: only 1 1/2 when tibbs got a stroke! is that normal?

I lost my first 3 rats (pet shop boys) very young. Two at 12 months (stroke and tumour) and the last at 15 months (also from a stroke).

and that includes those of us that can't register via the nfrs Why can you not register via the NFRS? I have no clue what the rules are so am just curious. I'm assuming it's because two people are working together from more than one address. NFRS rules state: Stud Or Rattery Registration Etiquette ...

Re: Impossible to clean abscess

The answer may be bribery. Get a warm wet towel and fold it, put it on the floor and put him on it with a bowl of something yummy. Enough to keep him there for as long as you want the abcess to be soaked. I've found (at least with food orientated rats) that they're so busy stuffing their face that t...

Re: only one rat left in my cage :(

Firstly, I'm very sorry for your loss. :( Unfortunately, in all but a few exceptional cases, human company is not enough and cannot replace ratty company. You seem to want the best for your boy, and as you say he's very healthy, he's hopefully got a good amount of time left so I think ratty company ...
