Re: Rat hates water

I once had a rat claw his way up my bare arm, dive down my cleavage and refuse to come out for 1/2 an hour after I had to bath him. Wet rat down the top is not comfortable!

Re: whats safe??

I'm pretty sure emulsion would be dangerous. Not sure about PVA as I think its child safe but I don't know how ok it would be if they chewed it regularly,

Re: New rat. . .health problems. . advice needed please!

Personally I think I'd wait until the antibiotics are finished, just to be on the safe side. I wouldn't want to take any chances.

Re: Are supplements essential/ diet for older rats

They're all quite chunky boys and even the 2 year old is showing no signs of aging. I'll probably change to a kidney friendly mix, increase the fresh food and add a supplement when I do my next RR order though, I want them to keep going well into old age.

Are supplements essential/ diet for older rats

I currently feed a complete ready-made mix from RatRations which my boys seem to like a lot. They also get fresh fruit or veg most days. Is it essential that I feed a suplement like Dr Squiggles or can they get everything they need from their diet? Also, my boys are all 1 year or older, should I be ...

Re: Bonding advice needed

He's like a changed rat a week after neutering, No foofing, allows me to pick him up, inquisitive and even had a little shoulder ride round the house yesterday. And this is a rat I couldn't even touch a week ago :) I've never had to deal with an aggressive rat before so the change seems amazing

Re: Cleaning wounds

I've just used hibiscrub on a variety of infected fight wounds over 3 rats and they're all healing beautifully. Its available from the vets but much cheaper to buy a bottle from the chemist

Re: tiny rescued rats and advice needed

Poor little guys :/ At least they have good homes now. If you have the time/space/money then it would be the best thing for those does to take them and home the babies.

Do the tiny ratties have names?

Bonding advice needed

One of my new boys is very stressy and foofs up and sidles at my hand and tries to bite me regularly. He's just been neutered but I think its a combination of nervousness as well as hormones. Any advice for gaining his trust and friendship? He's a gorgeous boy and was fine with us at his old home so...

Re: Urgently need advice - agressive rat

Thanks I'm pretty sure I'll have a lovely squish of a boy when castration has taken effect, he was certainly happy to be cuddled at Werepupy's when we picked him up. Unfortunately I've had to separate him from viral and simon cos he was beating them up a bit, I did wonder if that was because of bein...

Re: First intro's - need advice

It appears to be going well. Charlie is now tolerating viral and making slightly less fuss when simon approaches him despite being scared. Simon is still frantically searching for charlies testicles every time they meet

Re: Urgently need advice - agressive rat

I have asked Werepuppy for advice, she says he's basically overly dominant. I'm wondering if the agression towards me and the OH is because we are new to him but currently we cann't handle him because after about 2 mins he floofs up his fur and tries to bite us. I'm going to give neutering a try bec...

Urgently need advice - agressive rat

I brought home 3 boys from Werepuppy at the weekend. 2 have settled in really well but one is being very agressive, he's bitten the OH quite badly, he's attempted to bite me but thankfully only got a mouthful of my jeans, and he has been foofing and jumping and biting at the bars of the cage the bar...

Re: First intro's - need advice

Thanks that was pretty much what I was planning to do, I'm glad you agree. Also, Simon was really confused by Charlie's lack of testicles, he went for a sniff, had a look further under, used his paw to try and lift the base of charlie's tail for a good look, then turned to me and Ben as if to say 'b...

Re: We've been upgrading...

Very jealous! How many rats are in each cage? My lazy boys are fine in a freddy 2 max but the OH says I can have an explorer when we move in together next year so they have more space.
