Introducing new rats to older girls

is introducing new rattys to an established group of older ladies a good idea? i have 3 girls: sasha (who will be 3 in the middle of october), eddie and patsy (unsure of there exact age but there around 3/4 months younger than sasha). sasha and patsy are fairly chilled out but eddie can be somewhat ...

Re: Feeding live insects?

Re: Classroom pets?

if you could keep them at home and bring them in with you i think that would be a good compromise :) other than the worries others have expressed my main concern would be the temperature fluctuations in a school throughout the day/night if you did leave them there. my mums a teacher and has tried ha...

Re: what was the strangest thing you`ve found your rat eating?

my favourite pajama top  i left it by the cage one night before going to bed and a tiny part of it must have been touching the bars. working as some sort of all destructive 'all for one and one for all' ratty force they managed to pull it through the bars, shredding it as they went. they ate ...

Re: Rat in the shed

It is a bit of a silly statement to say why keep animals then keep them in a shed :o My horse would never have fitted in my lounge and the chickens make an awful mess, and as for the goats.....well you see my point  i was thinking that  my horse wouldnt fit through the door (fat clydseda...

Re: Pneumonia? URGENT

you havnt failed her, your doing the best you can. did the vet not say anything when she used the stethoscope? my vet said its really easy to tell even early stage pneumonia that way? tbh id agree with siberiankiss, the vet just sounds like they want to push the bill up, or they dont know much about...

Re: Pneumonia? URGENT

you need to ring a different vet. mine is a small animal specialist and at no point did he want xrays. he listened to her breathing through a stethoscope, apparently if the lungs sound like bubble wrap its pneumonia. is there noone else you can ring? good luck and fingers crossed for you my end :luck:

Re: Pneumonia? URGENT

Re: FR's atmosphere currently.

i saw this highlighted earlier in the thread but iv just read 2 threads in particular which has made me agree with the point made. i cant stand the 'my way or the highway' approach to animal keeping, and if someone tells me im cruel/heartless/selfish for doing what i do then i honestly cant state il...
