Re: dumbo rats?

There are SO many myths about dumbos - mostly started by pet shops who want to make more money. A dumbo rat is TRULY no different to a top eared "normal" rat except that his/her ears are on the side of it's head! That's it. Personality depends much more on line (where they have come from) and on ha...

Re: dumbo rats?

Mine are very laid back, have both sexes living together--all have been spayed & neutered. My dumbos, littermates, are more lazy than the regular eared hooded who, all but one, had same father. My lighter colored ones have poor eyesight so are swayers. The black capped ones don't sway! go to the lin...

Re: help will keeping my rats cool

Granite is cold and stays cold. Can you perhaps get a scrap piece from a place that speciallizes in granite countertops?
Real granite tile would be another option, don't know if a store would sell just one tile, but if it was discontinued....

Oh wow I love that plastic bridge thing! i MUST have one! Where did you get it from? Lets hope it's somewhere that ships to the uk! I reviewed it here: http://www.pbase.com/cits_4_pets/image/123587587 It was designed for birds by Penn-Plax. Sterilite plastic drawers fit perfectly on the bottom shel...

Re: The Savic Royal Suite Club! aka *The Savic Royal Family*

I have just an old saddle pad cut in half on the top shelf. not in use in these pix. For the bottom I added garden edging around 3/4 of the way and use multi layered pads I have made with holes so they can burrow through. A corner litter box on each level. USA's Critter Nations have shallow pans but...

Love the material! Being from the USA not familiar with vetbed. What are they composed of and they look like a perfect fit for the CN/SRS Flo Going on the theme of vetbed this is Hickey's cage. Hickey has vetbed because he has terrible bumblefoot and the cage is a bit sparse because he doesn't do mu...

Re: The Savic Royal Suite Club! aka *The Savic Royal Family*

Pix of my CN cage with garden edging used as urine guard. So far the rats have not even tried chewing it. It is placed on top of plastic shelf liners that is available at Costco. Keeps any fluid from dripping below. (fortunately the 2 young girls in the CN did not copy the old matriarch's style of p...

Re: The Savic Royal Suite Club! aka *The Savic Royal Family*

Great idea with the corner shelf attachment. I have seen several of the SRS with 3rd party shelves. Where can these be ordered. Nice that the SRS shelf is a bit narrower. I want a 2nd shelf but one that does not take up half the cage as the Critter Nation cage shelves do. Some great pictures, love t...

Re: No Sew Hammock and Things

Stretch caps work great. I cut an entry hole and turn it upside down to hang. Just run shower ring hooks though and attach to top of cage. Another variation is just to take a cap, no need to cut hole and use 1 hook on top opening of it & attach to cage top, 1 at top opening/side of cap to side of ca...
