Re: Wilcos Rat Food

I keep girls and feed this mixed with fruity rabbit mix, cereals (rice crispies, shreddies, bran flakes, porrige oats) a bit of 'wagg complete' dog food, the mixed insects from wilkos bird food range, fresh fruit and veg and various seeds. They also get the odd egg/bowl of catfood etc. as a treat an...

Re: Advice with babies

When I got my first girls I put an old tshirt of mine in with them so they associated my scent with a warm safe place. I've done this with any nervous rat since (not that the first 3 were!) and it seems to help settle them when being handled. (now I use a face cloth that I put on my pillow for a nig...

Re: GMR.... What about GMC??

I have 'GME' - Get more explorers. I have 2 which is perfectly sufficient for my girls but still seriously consider buying more... Wondering what 2 3tier explorers would be like for them....

Re: Not For the faint hearted!!

The mouse probably died naturally and they may just have been trying to tidy up the remains as animals do. Or some other mice could have done the chewing, or even wild rats you never know. There should be no problems introducing more rats to your boys as long as you do it slowly and carefully- have ...

Beech House in Radcliffe are excellent but you may find someone nearer - try asking spoiled_rat as she is out your way a bit more.

Re: Has any one had any experience with this cage?

Personally I would wait and get an explorer, they do come up second hand fairly frequently, I paid £100 ish for each of mine in nearly new condition. Have you tried Gumtree/Preloved etc?

They are also totall...

I'd go for the explorer. You can always just use half until you get more rats :) I love my explorers. The access is brilliant.

Re: Crinkle tube from Wilkos

I got a few of the 75p coop cup things.

I reckon if you wanted a longer crinkle tube you could easily sew 2 together and it'd still be dirt cheap :)

Love wilkos

Re: albino rat going bald

Well, I'd definitely switch from shavings to a more rat friendly substrate - I use newspaper cos it's free but there are loads of options, something paper or cardboard is more suitable then wood shavings - if you have a read on here you will find many discussions on the subject, some quite heated! H...

Re: albino rat going bald

What did you use to treat the mites?

What do you use for substrate/bedding?

Have you changed anything recently?

What cage are they in?

What do you feed them?

If you have changed anything could it be an allergic reaction?
