Re: An overview of the new forum

Wow I had no idea this was happening today! When do we stop using the old one? I'm so confused!

Re: Emergency rat plans

I'm glad I'm not alone! My OH is wong so I'm having to emergency plan by myself. Probably why I've gone overboard on it. Hmmm should have stocked up on tinned food and bottled water...

Emergency rat plans

So I've just gone and checked my carrier, filled and attached a water bottle and put in some food. all this incase rioters come and set fire to my house, so I can at least try and get the ratties out. Before anyone asks, no I do not live in London, yes I may well be paranoid and crazy. BUT, I think ...

Re: Changing rat's name?

I kept some - Okami and Hachi as I knew I wouldn't be keeping them, just fostering - Tiny and Ice, my parkies, I attempted to change their names but found myself calling them by their old names so they stuck! - latest was Charlie Brown which I did change from his previous name Harry, but I have a gu...

Re: The lady doth protest too much?

Charlie is definitely the alpha. So maybe that's why. I did a bit of research and it seems to be something that happens... I hope.

The lady doth protest too much?

Charlie Brown is mounting poor little Tiny like nobodys business. Charlie Brown is neutered, and was not intro'd to my girlies until over six weeks since the neuter. It's now been more like 8 weeks. So I think we have nothing to worry about in that sense. But she makes a big old screeching and screa...

I love the name Thonorhoonse. Maybe I'll steal that for the new forum. Sounds like some sort of forest imp.

Re: Urgent intro advice - injury and next steps

We had a bloody eye result of an intro once. Turned out most likely to have been a scratch during a scuffle and no actual malice as such. I've found bites tend to be on the back and bum areas. If it's just caused by a nail then it's unfortunate but shouldnt hamper the intro.

I've only ever bought cat food from them.

I don't know why I'm posting this, it's entirely useless.

Re: Sudden bullying?

Ooh someone replied! Hehe. They seem to have settled down now. Ice doesn't have as many wounds, in fact only a couple now which are healing up so looks like they are sorting things out between themselves. Phew!

Re: Wetting beds and pooping on shelves =smells

I buy cheapo value baby wipes from tesco etc. The cheapest ones are usually unfragranced and as they are baby wipes and not the fancy soft skin or whatever sort, they don't have much weird stuff added. They are much much cheaper than buying 'pet' wipes from p@h or anywhere else. I use them to wipe t...

Re: when to let go? respy girl ( Boo )

I had a similar situation with one of my first rats, Barksdale. He was always respy but towards the end he lost all his weight and any small exertion left him struggling to breathe and lying on the shelves. Is really up to you but if you feel she is being 'tortured' then maybe it is time. I got to t...

Sudden bullying?

Since coming home from their holibobs at Alijane's, I've noticed some little wounds on one of our smallest does, Ice. She is the littlest except for Tiny who more than makes up for it in feistyness so Ice probably is bottom of the pack. But there have never been injuries before. She has shallow woun...
