Re: urgent - struggling to breathe

haha, yes we have one rat called Bilbo who it would be fair to say is slightly greedier than everyone else  He crams his mouth full of grub, and then scampers off to his 'secret location'... We did used to scatter feed, but i became concerned about them urinating on the food (the gang that Ruf...

Re: urgent - struggling to breathe

We transferred him to the carrier and stayed up with him until about 4:30am, then brought put him next to my bed so I could hear/check on him. Then he woke me up at 8am this morning, foraging around and jumping on top of his pod. I looked over, and he was back to his normal self, looking at me ...

The vet phoned back and just said 'give him baytril'............ !!!!!! URGH. I am watching him, prepared to do the fling if necessary. Is that only...

Re: Advice on rat rapidly going down hill

Hi again,

Ben was PTS this morning

The vet confirmed that he was clearly in a lot of pain, and that there really wasn't anything more that we could do for him.

I feel better now I know he isn't suffering. But it still hurts like mad.

R.I.P my special friend :hearts:

Re: Advice on rat rapidly going down hill

Thanks for the replies.
oh wow, the symptoms for a PT are just like what he has.
I watched the videos on that link and that is exactly how he is acting.
I will book him into the vets tomorrow.

He used to be the biggest of the group- 711g at his peak  - but in the last few weeks has dropped to being the smallest out of them all. He seems to have real trouble ho...

Re: Using the wheel

I have 2 baby boys (4 months old) who love their wheel :D They have always had one. Although they never really go full pelt on it like my hamster does, more like short blasts! I tried to introduce one to my other 5 older boys, but they paid it no attention whatsoever. It seems that if they hav...

Busybody...

Just spent the day cleaning out the rat room, and i felt the urge to post this question: Does anyone else have a busybody ratty?! You know, one who just can't BEAR to be left out of anything that's happening. Simply HAS to see what is going on, and be involved in everything and anything  Mine i...
