Vet check

When people get a new rat or kitten do you get them vet checked?

With puppies we have always popped them to the vets for a check over within a couple of days of owning them. Its good to get them on the system and intoduces them to the vet.Just wondering if the same sort of thing applies to rats.

Re: Feeding veg...

Really useful to see what everyone feeds there rats. Have to say with my pair so far veggies and fruit are going down like a lead ballon. Tried them with peas in the shell, then taken out the shell, spring greens and sweetcorn so far all rejected. I dont think they have ever been fed fresh food befo...

Re: Can I please have some opinions?...

If you go to : http://www.fancy-rats.co.uk/information/guides/cagecalculator/ Put in the sizes it will tell you how many rats it can house. Personally i would says its too small for a permenant home but the calc says it will house 2 rats. The other problems with it is all that wood. I have always fo...

Re: Advice with babies

Well last night and today they were out the cage and seem fine with being handled, they are very licky and are happy to eat food given to them by hand. They tucked into some egg, shredded wheat, meal worms, noodles and nuts. They had no interest in a lot of there mix but that will come with time i a...

Re: Advice with babies

Well when i left for work they hadnt touched the egg/catfood mix i had left them. I had to use a whole egg of course and only gave them a little so i gave the leftovers to the dogs, which they thought was great! On the plus side they were still in the hammock but snuggled together alseep rather then...

Re: Advice with babies

Thanks for the tips! I dont have my other girls yet we are getting them next week sometime. I was a little unprepared for these babies so we made a hasty trip to ASDA last night to get them some fresh food, i have opened a tin of the cat food i brought and placed that in the cage with them. Advice with babies

As some of you may know from my other thread we ended up with two baby girls last night (as yet still un-named) they are only 4 1/2 weeks old and a little skinny (the light one weighs about 50g something the dark one 70g something but will have to find the better scales to know the full weight) they...

Re: Help with Shunamite diet please

I found this page hugely useful when researching the stuff for my girls diet and then raiding the grains on rat rations to make it up.

Re: Best Rabbit food for base?

I have made my very first mix and used Harrison's Banana Brunch as the base. I was very impressed with the quaility of the ingredents and the smell of it was lovely.
