It's nothing to worry about, it is in fact very common, also Pip my current rat loves to lick me, even when I have just washed my hands so they are all soapy! Lots of owner's have problem's with this, I resulted to tap them on their nose, gently...

Re: Worried now

Reggie Rat, is a good, feed them a small portion, also give them meat, like plain chicken, beef, turkey, but nothing too high in salt. Processed food isn't very good for them, in that respect. Fresh vegetables, are good. I personally found that spaghetti bolagnase goes down a treat, any pasta dishes...

Re: lump - strange location

It sounds like your doing a fabulous job...My rat is actually suffering from a tumour behind her right leg. If you find a lump here be sure to get to the vets quickly, for a diagnosis. Pip is still alive 6 weeks on after finding the lump, she is 4 going 5 in march and the vet said she wouldn't survi...

Re: Does squeking always mean protest/distress?

If you pick a rat up and they squeak, you need to cuddle them tight to your stomach so they feel safe and secure, it is usually a sign of stress and discomfort but usually this can be down to handling of the breeder (lack of handling) Rats grind their teeth when they are happy, cuddle them close or ...

Re: Advice please Re Multiple malignant mammary tumours...

My rat, Pip has a large tumour the size of a 2p coin behind her front right leg, luckily I saw this early as a previous rat had the same problem. You can pay £80.00 to get the lump removed or, you wait untill it gets to the point that their quality of life is just gone, so you get the rat put down. ...

My rat sneezes like a cold that doesn't go away.

I wouldn't say in sequence but she will sneeze when she is running some where or if she's sat on my shoulder, in her cage etc... Does anyone know what's happening or having the same problem, even a bit of advic...
