Re: Baytril Dosage

I'm a bit worried now, because on here everyone said that it was 0.1ml per 100g of rat. I've had all 10 of my boys on 0.1ml per 100g for 14 days a couple of months back and gave Riley that dosage today. Could this damage them? :S I'm worried now. http://www.fancy-rats.co.uk/community/viewtopic.php?f...

Re: Baytril Dosage

Ok, 10 mg / 1 kg. you have to convert between weights and volumes, but you also have to remember that the advice given in mg is talking about pure baytril, whereas what we are given by the vet is a diluted solution (usually a 2.5% solution) 10 mg roughly = 0.01 ml (a ml of water weighs about 1 g) S...

Marbocyl - ear infection

Hey, i posted a while back about Miles who had a inner ear infection, he was on 10 days of 1/2 of clavaseptin tablets 50mg. It worked but a couple of days ago he started to bleed from his ear again, my vet said that we should try marbocyl (and was extremely offensive... like 18 quid for a 10 day cou...

Baytril Dosage

Hey, I'm just wondering if having 0.1ml/100g of rat can effect their health? Basically, my Vet gave Riley this dosage a couple of months back aftetr I asked for it to combat on going resp problems (since Jan!), we beat the infection with this dosage and metacam. I found they were coming back, but th...

Had to seperate - reintro advice

Hey, for months I've had problems with Joey (he is mentally damaged!) anyway, last month we eventually made a huge breakthrough with him, he just stopped being agressive. He stopped bullying everyone bar one rat, Rupert who he just doesn't get on with. He is the alpha of the group and he isn't an el...

Re: Im a grandmother

The mother will also be removed from her babies and put in the adoption tank whent his is all over and therefore will be sold alone and will probably live alone, sadly. A similar thing happened to a Degu my mum adopted from their adoption centre.

Re: Urgent advice needed.

I understand that there s that risk. I am also unhappy to leave either of these rats alone, and am concerned he doesnt take to another male, its a situation I need to think about seriously before making any decisions. Thanks Pretty much any rat can be introduced to another rat. I recently (well, I ...

Re: Urgent advice needed.

Personally speaking, I wouldn't get the male castrated. All operations carry a great deal of risk for small animals and to me, getting a male castrated purely so that you can introduce him to a female is irresponsible. Some evidence suggests that it does extend life (only by like 20days-1month). Per...

Re: Wilkinsons -_-''

why? They aren't a pet shop. Their staff aren't trained on animal welfare. Complaining will achieve nothing, especially as it concerns rat (ie, not a common pet). Except perhaps get a member of staff in trouble for training that she shouldn't (for her position) have. It's like complaining because th...

Joey, I will never kiss you again :(

I was just sitting here, minding my own business, when the biggest moth I have ever seen flew into my living room and started flying around like a maniac and kept trying to fly into my head. I am running around the room, scared trying to blow the moth in the right direction. Suddenly, the moth flew ...

Scaly tail

Hey there, one of my boys has an extremely scaly tail. Like, it looks all dry and you can pull the scales back and spike them up. As a whole, he isn't the cleanest rat. He loves nothing more than peeing on a plastic shelf and then bathing in the pee, so his hygene isn't great (perhaps it's related, ...

Re: Petcages4less

PayPal protect your payment, if you buy and they don't deliver then you can claim a refund (fairly easily too - I've experienced problems before and have always had my money back within a couple of hours). I don't know anything about the site though, but if they have the cage you want at a good pric...

Combo to kill resp problems

Hey there, my boy Riley has been battling with resp problems for months now (jan). We eventually beat it last month and he was completely cured on a combo of Baytril + metacam. However, this morning I've found that they've returned -.- I think he is probably immune to the Baytril now (having been on...

Re: new ratty sneezing allot... help!

Hey,

I'm not sure for what reasons this happens but this is completely normal. When a rat changes environment they sneeze a lot. I'm sure that someone will come a long soon nd give you a answer with the proper reasons why, I just wanted to put your mind at rest ^^
