Re: Classroom pets?

Sounds okay to me, but it would be nice if you could expand on exactly why you want them as classroom pets, and all that, if you'll be allowed a metal cage [thats big enough] in the class room ect, ect...

Re: Max number of operations?

The lump is about the size of two/three large grapes put together. Its right between her back legs, to the left of her vagina...the main reason i want it removed is because it seems to be getting bigger and i'm pretty sure because its so close to her bum and vagina she may start having problems weei...

Max number of operations?

I have got the vets later, as we've found another lump on one of our rats. Shes 19 months old. Shes already had a lump removed about 2 months ago.. Our vet said last time he will only operate once as its too risky. How many times would you say if okay to have a rat put under? It's only my second cas...

What to cover carrier door with?

We've (me and oh) made a quick decision to go to my parents house for a week to get some time away. We will be on the train/car about 3 hours so i bought a big cat carrier for the 7 of them. When i had 4 i would take them in the hamster cage for the journey, but as we now have 7, i cant do that. Pro...

Re: 30 Gallon Tank

i would also never put rats in a tank, not for any amount of time, you would be asking for trouble in the case of resp problems and illness, boredem, the lot. Like someone said, as babies all they want to do is run and climb, a tank will stop this, they will just be sad and bored. Another factor was...

Re: What do you like better critter litter or papelit pellets

I have used critter litter and they did like it, but its SOOOOOOOOOOOOO dusting, put it in the litter tray and gently shake, you will see tons of dust come up.

Pellets are good aswell, stops the smells the same as critter litter, mine seem to like it less, but its better for them so i use it.

Re: Oh dear, first experience of a rat post op

I would put them back together, they will be happier that way. Only reason to seperate is the first 24hours and if the other rat is trying to chew said stitches. My girl chewed, both her external and internal stitches...was a big hole, looked terrible but shes healing slowly now. For pain relief i w...

Re: Babies and baytril

If you feel as if they do need anti biotics i would ask for septin as this is okay for babys to have, i wouldn't risk using the baytril as you never know what may happen.

EDIT: I've used Septrin for babies and its works great.
