Re: Doxy/Baytril combo?
I have seen no improvement at all. Does that mean the was no infection? He has been on this for 10 days. Previously 2 weeks of Baytril. He is happy in himself, eating and a good weight 850g. Shall I take him back to the vets? What can they do? The vet said his chest was not that bad before treatment...

Re: Introducing new rats to older girls
Agree with all of the above :D I was worried that new young rats would upset the balance, but how wrong I was. My very, very old lady Storm got the chance to be a mummy :hearts: and what a great one she is. Within hours they were found squished under her in a hammock. It couldn't have worked out bet...

I use Doves farm wheat free. It's made from rice and they love it. I also cook it once a week and mix in fish , veggies, herbs and garlic.

Re: Abscess needs to be lanced but can't go under
Back from vets. You should have seen the face on the vet when puss started squirting out. I thought he was gona faint  I said I would finish it myself at home to save his stomach. Got a nice big hole so it can drain properly. I finished it off and flushed it loads and filled with Manuka honey. ...

Re: Abscess needs to be lanced but can't go under
Thank you so much. I am so glad you mentioned the cross bit. All the abscesses I have had lanced in the past have healed too quickly. I will ask for a topical AB. That makes sense. So glad I came on here before I went

Re: Abscess needs to be lanced but can't go under
I didn't know they could do that. I have a good supply of Hibiscrub and syringes. MarieM he is just booked in for a look at it, but you get 20mins (not like my old vets you only got 5mins) so maybe they could lance it then. Only problem is I won't get to pop it myself

Abscess needs to be lanced but can't go under
My Hermie developed a huge(the size of a walnut) abscess last night and it appears to be deep if you know what I mean. The skin feels very tight and I am worried it will pop inside him. The vet would like to lance it. He nearly died when getting castrated and my old vet said he would never operate o...

Re: Tell me what to do
Back to the drawing board. I never heard back from Spoiled rat :( It would have been perfect.I have spotted 2 6mth girls but OH thinks its unfair to operate on them, even though I have told him the health benefits. It will cost between £80 and £100 to do them both which will eat into our vet fund and...
