The all have their little personalities :hearts: Aha trust me lovely, you probably wont have that cage for long. keep your eye out for a cage on like ebay and gumtree...even on here. I've upgraded mine several until I found one that suits me well. not at all, their like your children in a way, so it...

Re: Still cant hold rats

MY girls were not used to people at all, and they are biters some times, so I am hesitant to let them sniff my hands Dont be scared, they will know that you're scared. Remember you are alot bigger than they are haha. Sometimes they just nibble and go abit to far...just squeal and it will tell them ...

Re: Still cant hold rats

Peeing and pooing is very normal at first, they will learn over time to hold it in until they are back in the cage :) Have you tried just sitting next to their cage with a book and letting them come and investigate you? Ignore them for awhile and just carry on reading etc Or I've put them on a bed a...

Re: embarking on first intro.... HELLLP!!

Ive had to do several introductions as my group has grown a number of times :hearts: And today I've just successfully introduced three 11 month old boys to three 10 month old boys and four 8 month old boys (generally older rats can be harder them to introduce) :D This is my method :D Firstly put 2 c...

Re: Escapee rat

I wouldnt worry about why she's doing it, I'd be more concerned about preventing it from happening again. Sorry I meant suggestions on how to prevent her or teach her to stop it. I'm going to cellotape the flap down (its one of the cages where you pull out the tray to clean it) I honestly didnt thi...

Yesterday we came upstairs and one of my girls was on my bed...which is the other side of the room. I c...

Re: Great website for DIY toys

Good idea, other glued would not be rat friendly I'm guessing! PVA glue is meant to be non-toxic because kids often eat it, although the result is a bit of a bad tummy. but I'm not entirely sure if it would be okay for rats and dont fancy taking the chance lol. I've just made 2, waiting for them to...

Re: suddenly stinky rats

I used stuff from pets at home which is recommended for small animals as they have been dust extracted :)

It seems pretty good, I've never heard them sneeze or show signs of resp distress.

Re: suddenly stinky rats

it could be there ages, rats go through hormonal changes do you have a litter tray for them? if so what litter do you use? Cheap cat litter isnt good at all, I've found that wood pellet litter is the best for keeping the smell at bay. Also you can buy treats (I found them at pets at home) which are ...
