Re: Joining explorers together - Single level!

looking at my explorer i think it could work but there are going to be a few problem areas where it may weeken the integrity of the cage. ok so if you start from scratchs and do away with any floor grids (and use them as ceilings) as the cage is going to sit on the floor. you will have a problem as...

Re: Pongy dirty at toys

Non biological washing powder.... Great at removing smells as it breaks down the components which make up urine (i think). Hammocks here get wahed in it and come out smelling new :)

Re: Joining explorers together - Single level!

I don't see why one of the sections can't just a panel of plastic or wood on the bottom, or even a tarpaulin. Presumably both sections will be on the floor so what's the problem? The trays will stop substrate and rats getting to the floor underneath. Heya Like I said before, I'm just gonna have a b...

Re: Joining explorers together - Single level!

I rpobably could but in my expeirence, chicken wire/mesh gets dead gucky very fast and is a bit of a pain to clean. Is a potential idea though should all else fail :)

Re: Joining explorers together - Single level!

Ooooh good plan :) Last time I had one it didn't have a shelf stand but it might do this time! Hopefully, failing that, the vinyl-on-floor plan should work :)

Re: Joining explorers together - Single level!

Alternately, I could just get a couple of these

http://www.discountedpetproducts.net/MD ... 04617.html

Would probably be cheaper anyway and means I'd have enough floors/ceilings :)

EDIT - Or I could if it wasn't NJ pickup only.... Grrrr..... I'll keep looking.

Re: Joining explorers together - Single level!

If I did this, it would be on the floor on a big piece of lino with the galvanised trays, so if I was missing a floor piece it wouldn't matter too greatly as the cage would be directly on the floor anyway so no chance of escape underneath. If they chucked stuff out of the trays, the lino underneath ...

Re: Joining explorers together - Single level!

Thanks for that! Would the 2 sections be able to screw together at all without drilling extra holes, or would it be a case of zip ties to hold them together?

Joining explorers together - Single level!

This is more a musing for the far future - I have moved house recently and will hopefully be swapping rooms soon and want to get my ratties a bigger cage. I would love to get them an explorer, however the room I am moving into has sloped ceiling (It's an attic room) so would not be able to fit an up...

He is now on 0.2ml baytril daily and fucithalmic eye ointment twice da...

Cage suggestions please!

Hi everyone I'm trying to invest in a few more cages seeing as I am running out of cage space again due to a few recent rescues. I have a few specific crteria that the cage would need to stick to but nothing too major. 1) Must be flat packable. There is a major space issue where I keep my rats, hope...
