Re: Contraceptive Pill

Thanks for the reply. I'll keep a close eye on her but she's her normal hyper self at the moment.
I just feel like such a plonker! And now I'm 4 pills down!

Contraceptive Pill

One of my girls has eaten 4 of my micrgynon contraceptive pills. Will this affect her? She seems her normal self. I think she ate them last night, I just realised I forgot to take one this morning so went to take it and found the pack under the bed (along with a grape and plenty of nuts). I thought ...

Re: what was the strangest thing you`ve found your rat eating?

Lily - candles (glad it's not just her), pencils and moths! She tends to just stash her 'prizes' in various places around the house.

Dexter - snotty tissues (even though they have a whole box of clean tissues in their cage!)

and Jasmine tends to just stick to human food.

Re: Feeding live insects?

How do you feed crickets to your rats? I have a couple of geckos that eat crix, but they're kept in vivariums so I can just throw some crix in and there's no way of escaping. Just wondering how people feed them to ratty's without the possibility of crickets escaping and running round the house!
Thanks

Re: heat and summer

I use a home-made version of this. If you fill some bottles with water and put them in the freezer, the rabbits love them! And it's free!

Re: Biting

I know what you mean about the shock of it, I couldn't believe it when he bite me - it seemed completely unprovoked and he was perfectly happy with me being in his cage a few moments before! I just ran the bite under the tap and put some antiseptic cream on too, although after the first bite I did r...

Re: Biting

Thanks for the replies. So even though he seems to be territorial of his cage, it's still advisable to get cage-mates? Would it matter if it's male or female rats? I'm just worried if the introductions don't go well, I really don't have the room for another cage permanently. I do want to do what's b...

Biting

Hi all, I adopted a rat 3 months ago and after a few weeks he bit me really badly, after some more biting we decided to get him neutered. He's been great since then (19th Jan) - until today. I was just hooking his hammock back up as he'd knocked a hook off and he just lunged at me and bit me really ...

Re: Territorial Biting

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure on age as apparently the lady who gave him up said he was 3 months old, which I'm fairly sure isn't true! I think he's more like 5-6months. He was given up with another rat but they had to be split up as they were fighting and they think this may be why the woman ...

Territorial Biting

Hi all, I recently re-homed a rat, Dexter, and he's now started biting whilst inside his cage. He's fine outside of his cage, so far! I've had a really bad bite so now I'm a little scared of him to be honest! I've had rats before but until now I've never had one that bites so I'm not really sure wha...
