Re: Wilcos Rat Food

Hey thanks! I have no intention of feeding this on its own, purely as a base mix. It smells AMAZING tho! They currently have a rabbit mix from my local market with added cereals/mealworms/oats etc in it. It’s a shame really as it says on the packet that it has been formulated by professional animal ...

The look in great shape but they are quite small compared to other grown ratties I see on the site! They eat like horses and I spoil then quite a bit but there not fatties! Do you th...

Re: At my wits end

Hey, my boy Dave was exactly the same, I posted a while ago about the same wire chewing problem and someone suggested chilli powder on the wires. Worked a treat, I put chilli powder in a cup and added Tabasco to make a paste and then used a paintbrush and painted in onto the wires! I watched him go ...

As obviously this is a family forum and I don’t want people to get upset about this (I don’t see why they would but you never kno...

Thin hair, scratches and sores.

Hi, things have been unsettled in my group of boys aged 10 months, Dave has recently been castrated and I’ve noticed his hair around his shoulders and back is very thin and you can see scratches and sores on his shoulders. I’ve checked over my other 2 boys and they’re fine, good thick hair no sores,...

Re: my rat has started to bite everything!

A lot of rats 'test' things with their mouths, my boy Dave, everything he finds he chews first to see what it’s like! When I first had my boys they chewed EVERYTHING! But like daffee said they grow out of it, just make sure that you don’t have anything precious or valuable out during free range, I p...

Re: Post Castration Questions

Hey thanks for all your great advice! I will take Austin with him to the vets as they get on the best just hope they dont castrate the wrong one! They are living together, its only in free range that Dave is most aggressive and bullies the others. However sometimes in the cage (every 3-4 days) he at...

Re: Rat is miserable and so am I

Hi, thanks so much for your advice, I feel so much better now phew! I was just worried that his behavioural problems were caused by something I did, my mum said I brought it on myself when I called him Dave! I am quite nervous around him tho and he can sense that, when I fed them this moring he eyed...
