she's been a bit quiet this morning, put Mr Magic in with her and she perked up a bit.

I'm having a problem getting the metacam into her thou, she won't take it mixed in with anything. I dont want to try and force feed her it because she will struggle and she might get hurt.

so so happy to have her home, glad I decided to go for the operation and not chicken out now although it was so scary today when I knew she was getting operated on.

ok, so she's home and shes in the small cage. she has eaten some baby food and has some guardian angel in her water. She seems a bit spaced out still and keeps falling over and also doing this weird thing where she keeps pulling her paw with her teeth, almost obsessively at some points. I'm putting ...

Where abouts in SW London are you? I go to All Creatures in (just!) Battersea. Both Nicola and Anders are competent with rats. Is there a link to anything on here about looking after a rat after an operation. My girlie has just had a lump removed, going to pick her up in an hour. she is being prescribed metacam (sp?) and the vet said she is on painkillers that will last til the morning. SHES ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry, just so relieved. I ended up calling them as the wait was killing me. all went well, she is apparently up and about already and has nommed her way through some babyfood. going to make a seperate post about after op care to make sure I look after her properly in the next...

Update on this - so she was booked in for the op and the respiritory problems came back, I cancelled the op and got more antibiotics (ronaxon/baytril/bisolvon combo) and she was on this for just under 2 weeks, chest seemed fine. Booked her in for the operation on Wednesday, made sure I was booked in...
