Need advice on possible castration.

Well, someone's been breaking the 'no blood, no foul' rule. Nico has been bitten on the leg, it's not a massive bite, but he is limping a bit on it. He was bitten in a rather delicate area a few weeks ago too. He's the only one whose ever been bitten. I'm thinking he might be a candidate for castrat...

Re: Wire mesh

Ebay can be a good place to look. If you want to see some before you buy, try B and Q or homebase. :)

Re: Is my rat unwell?

I think the thing about him not liking being touched on the rump is quite common. Rats do it to each other as a dominance thing, so he probably just thinks you're trying to dominate him. I would imagine if it was causing pain he would vocalise. Is he having any issues with mobility? Does he not come...

Re: An overview of the new forum

Could there be a section where we can post reviews of shops and websites please? I'm on a sports forum and they have a section called 'companies that rock', where people tell each other about good customer service etc. I really like it, as it gives smaller businesses a chance to get their names out ...

Re: Are these suitable?

Personally, I'd bake them in a hot oven for a bit to make sure you kill off any nasties living in them before giving them to the rats. :)

Re: New Timid Rats! Need Help!

Five days isn't very long. Unfortunately, rats from pet shops tend to be not that well handled. Having had rats that came from situations where they hadn't been handled compared to babies I got recently that had been handled all their lives, the difference is incredible. They will get used to you, p...

Re: Large rat cage ideas

If you already have a furet plus you could get another and make a furet plus tower. I have one of these for when I visit my parents for the holidays. I just cut a hole in the base of one of them, removed the grill lid thing from the other and put a tube down the hole, stacking them. Loads of room in...

Has anyone got one of these?

Safe N Sound Pet Carrier

I'm thinking about getting this but wanted to see what you lovely people think of it. Any negatives? I'll be using it to transport up to six bucks. Thanks

Re: Cage Recommendations Please?

I've just put one on top of the other. The lid comes off and the base just sits on top, and I cut a hole in the base.
I haven't got a picture of mine, but I stole the idea from this thread see cherryrat333's post on page 4. Mine looks like that. :) No DIY skills required.

Re: Cage Recommendations Please?

I've made a cage out of two furet plus cages. That would fit in your space, and they fit together really easily. I'm going to use it as a holiday cage for my six bucks. :)

Re: Please oppose these rabbit breeding farms

Looks like the planning application has been withdrawn, and a plan for a free-range farm is being put forward. This is much better. :P I don't eat meat myself but lots of people do, and I don't see why farming for meat and fur is any different to raising cows for meat and leather tbh?

Re: Teaching tricks!

Mine know to come to me when I make a sort of scratch on the sofa. They all come running towards me. They also know 'IN' when I'm shutting he door of the cage (most of the time). I think that any sort of training should encourage a natural behaviour. As for spinning, if it's something a rat does nat...
