Re: Albert's porphy eye

This looks exactly how my boys was yesterday!! I had him at the vet this morning and they put him under anaesthetic to have a good look at his eye as he's got a lump there which he's had since being a baby, but they couldn't find anything wrong at all!! I'd still suggest a check-up just to be safe t...

Re: Very porphy eye???

The vet did exactly as you suggested :-). Luckily the lump has not grown any bigger (phew!) and the porph seems to have cleared up. The vet couldn't see any reason for why it happened as his eye all looks ok, not even inflamed. It's a bit of a mystery really. She checked his chest as well and that's...

Very porphy eye???

Just came home to see my poor Orion with one eye covered in porphyrin (sp?). Bit of background first... He's an odd-eyed roan boy and since he was a baby he's had a kind of lump in the corner of his ruby eye which, of course, I got checked out as soon as I noticed it when he was maybe 8 weeks old. T...

My boys ate one of my best bras!! They pulled the gel insert thingy out and were trying to eat that but luckily I caught them in time. That bra cost me £25 as well haha cheeky boys!! U gotta love em.

Re: Fitting in rats

Hi thanks for the info. Atlas is now on phenobarbitol twice daily which seems to be helping somewhat. With regard to your past rats that had seizures, having brain tumours, I was wondering did they show any other symptoms at all? I am just curious as Atlas seems to have no other symptoms that would ...

Re: how much dr squiggles?

Hi thanks for your replies :) . Jemma you mention calcivet, I use daily rat 3 which has calcium, copper and vitamin d3, is this similar to calcivet or should I buy some calcivet and add that too? Just want to make sure I'm doing the best I can for my boys  I've put them just under half a spoon...

Re: Rat having fits

Hi there, my boy Atlas has fits too and I posted a couple of weeks ago for advice :-) . People suggested that it could be related to him having too much protein in his diet so it may be an idea to try to cut down on protein levels to see if that helps? Also, i've started to add some extra vitamin B ...

Re: I refuse to believe that any rat will willingly eat Septrin

Hehe one of my boys took it from a syringe once, the very first time he was prescribed it but now he knows that anything in a syringe is bad news so I have to keep all syringes WAY out of sight haha won't make that mistake again. Banana baby food tends to work quite well to hide it with my boys :-)

Re: Fitting in rats

I'll let you know how I get on with giving Atlas the vitamin B supplement, hopefully it will help a little. Seizures seem to be a lot more common than I thought, it's interesting to see that it seems to be that they appear to be rescue ratties, I think genetics may have something to do with it by th...

Re: Fitting in rats

Hi rats88, that sounds just like when Atlas has a seizure, his body goes all rigid then he starts repeatedly opening and closing his mouth and batting his front paws in the air and he spasms and jumps too. I tend to take him out of his cage and put him on my bed as soon as I see him start to fit as ...
