Re: First time rat owner seeking help

Hi, I know how frustrating it can be - sorry you're having such a tough time of it. Have you tried putting them on your shoulders? Just stand in the middle of the room, so they can't jump off onto anything, and let them crawl across your shoulders and down your arms. It may sound boring, but it's a ...

Re: Intros - progression into larger cage?

My girls have all gone into the Jenny cage this afternoon - there have been a few scuffles and squeaks, but nothing major (as yet!). However, my two older girls seem to have taken over the igloo (the only covered bed in the cage) and won't let the others in. Should I remove it and let them all sleep...

Re: Electric fans for keeping ratties cool?

I have just got an 'ice pod' from Pets at Home - basically an ice pack that you put in the freezer for a few hours, then place in the cage. Will let you know the result!

Re: Advice needed for Intro Cage

Thanks :) I have a spare hammock so will put it to use! May get a second food bowl and water bottle to avoid arguments as well.

Re: Electric fans for keeping ratties cool?

Amazing photo! So cute :D

I was thinking of getting one of these: http://www.petsathome.com/shop/chin-chi ... rpet-15848
since I'm out at work all day, so they can keep cool on their own :)

The spray bottle does look like fun...

Advice needed for Intro Cage

Hi All I'm getting ready for my new girls to arrive on Saturday: cage is on order and hopefully arriving tomorrow. I just wanted to know what sort of things I should have in the intro cage - is it best to keep things simple? I especially want to know about places to sleep - my current girls like to ...

Re: What have I done wrong??? :(

This is such a relief! My girls are getting to this stage too - the past couple of days they've been a bit wary of me and not very interested in anything at all. I was just putting it down to the fact is has been quite hot lately (my boys used to flake out if it was too warm) Thankfully I've been th...

Re: URGENT advice needed! Potential introduction coming up!

Thanks for your reply. I have just been reading up on the carrier method and figured that this could be done on the journey home. I will invest in a smaller cage so they can all be put in together in a nutural place, or if worst comes to worst I have a second cage to house the new ratties in on thei...

URGENT advice needed! Potential introduction coming up!

Hello All I have been in contact with the breeder where I got my two girls and asked if she had any litters due - she has some girls avilable next weekend! I am so very, very tempted! However I've never done introductions before. :-? From what I have read on this site I should get a second cage for ...

Re: Swimming

I've been thinking about getting my girls into a bit of swimming - just one thing: do you use cold or warm water? Hate the thought of shivering little ratties!

Any advice on introducing the girls to water would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Magic Colour change rat

One of my first rats what a roan boy. His grey patch was on his head, so looked like a little toupée :D Made him look very distinguished! It faded over time but was still visable (just) when he passed away. R.I.P :halo:

Humping issues...

Hi all. I have two girl ratties aged approx 4 months. They are from the same litter from a breeder. Gwen has taken up 'humping' her sister! Is this normal? Scout always tries to run away from Gwen, which to me says she doesn't like it. They have the odd scuffle in the cage, but I'm just worried that...

Found her! Squeezed under my bookcase...had to force her to come out as she was a very nervous. Do you think this will put her off coming out the cage? :-|

Re: scared to let my rats out of there cage

I always try and keep an eye on my girls when they are out and about - I have their cage on a table, which they can run about on. However, they do sometimes manage to get off the table, despite there being no chairs etc to climb down on to...which is what has happened tonight! I saw Scout pop her he...
