Fab Amy, Big thanks! I dont feel so bad about forcing it now. Re: Help! New cage/fighting problems.. (Word heavy sorry!)

Thanks for your reply :) Only issue with that would be is the only other cage ive got is A) too wide bar space for the babies to escape. and B) Used to be home to the three older boys so thatd be likey to cause some aggro.. I do have a super small cage though..literally only suitable for like 1 rat....

Re: Awesome new cage!! :)

Thanks all! Will get pics up soon! So, the new cage is still awesome and first day/night when i moved all the rats in went fine no problems.. except now the two new babies (Hoodsey and Sid) have taken to squidging themselves in to the tube that connects the bottom level to the top and just do not co...

Awesome new cage!! :)

Happy times! I just bought my rat pack a ferplast furet tower and wow is it HUGE, cant quite get over the sheer size of it! I know you can never have 'too much space' for a rat, but i could easily fit double the number of ratties in it and more!! Its the same height as me, and we havent even got the...

Re: How to handle rats ??

Yeah, i have the same problem, except mine are two newly weaned young bucks. Not sure if its making taming harder as theyre really young/springy. I keep putting my hand in the cage for them to smell, but most of the time i put my hand in the cage and they run in to their tube! any time imanage to ge...

Re: My intro-how does this sound?

Hi, Have you tried dabbing them all with vanilla essence on the back of their necks? This way they will all smell the same and may even want to start grooming eachother to get a taste of the yummy vanilla ;) Worked a treat with my guys. Maybe the reason they are at opposite ends of the cage is the d...

Re: Intro advice yet again

I definatly agree, I started off with a rat i rescued (Marley) when he was about 5 weeks. Then got Salem (8 weeks) to keep him company whilst i was at work. I do think it helped initially that both of those were young, but when i first got them, i housed them seperatly in cages near enough to eachot...

Re: Cage upgrade = more rats= help!

Thanks, I know its not ideal hence why im getting a bigger, better cage. This was only a temporary measure. Ive looked at the abode and only thing im not so keen on is the wire platforms not being easy on their feet. But i can always get some plastic sheeting or something to go over the top i spose....

Re: Cage upgrade = more rats= help!

p.s- I was thinking of something like this to sit on top of my desk: http://www.petsathome.com/shop/jenny-rat-cage-by-ferplast-15949 But went to pets at home today and it says only suitable for four rats.. Anything similar to this sort of design/shape but maybe on three layers? I like the explorer b...
