Re: A new type of coat?? *TONS of pictures and info*

Thank you. I had figured every time it shows up, it would be similar to how he looks. I was just curious about it...hopefull that someone had similar experiences. I'm not really looking to breed Rex yet. In fact, I wasn't really planning on breeding any 'special' type coats any time soon. Well, my r...

Re: A new type of coat?? *TONS of pictures and info*

I will no longer breed at that age (luckily it only happened once). And I will not let my does have more than two litters. Sorry everyone :( So once the female Siamese dumbos (that carry the weird hair gene?) get a little older, I will breed him with one of them as well as a completely unrelated fem...

Re: A new type of coat?? *TONS of pictures and info*

I'm sorry. I didn't know it was that young for rats. I had been told that age to start...and I figured since they grow so quickly and they're separated from mom around 5 weeks or so (and have the ability to get pregnant at that age...which is crazy!!) that 3-4 months old to breed sounded reasonable....

Re: A new type of coat?? *TONS of pictures and info*

Sorry if I miss anything...there were more responses than I had expected! I can't remember exactly (I don't have the greatest of memory), but I think he is around 4+ months now. I don't have my notebook with me. And I had been told that a good number of litters for a female is 3 and that a good star...

Re: A new type of coat?? *TONS of pictures and info*

I'm actually in California....and quite tired as it's 3 in the morning here. But yes, the mom (and most of my other rats) were healing from a terrible and incredibly frustrating (long story) mite experience when those pictures were taken :( Wasn't he too hairy as a baby to think he's going to be a h...

Re: A new type of coat?? *TONS of pictures and info*

Yes, he kind of looks like a double Rex....But his parents aren't Rex. There are no Rex in his lines for as far back as I know. In person, he's quite a bit fuzzier than a double Rex also.
He has me very confused!!

A new type of coat?? *TONS of pictures and info*

Sorry to everyone, in advance, for this long post! This is my first time posting here and I'm hoping I have some exciting news! Here goes the history.... I had a Seal Point Siamese dumbo(standard smooth coat) whom was bred to a black berkshire (both standard ears and coat). She had a litter ...
