Re: Bad introductions for new rat.

Sorry for your worries :( Is there a pattern as to how and when your little madam bites the boys? Persistent tail biting and drawing blood is something that I have separated boys from a group for before - and then had successful re-intros for after neutering.  In this case, I might be tempted to mov...

Re: Kidney friendly fruit and veg??

There's lots of information about feeding kidney friendly foods here , including some information about foods to add and avoid. If your lads are 31 months now, and seeming happy and healthy, I wouldn't worry too much about them being old and treating them differently because of what the calendar say...

Re: Protein

Hello...

What is in the rest of your mix? What fresh food do you feed? It might be easier to advise percentages/quantities and extras when we know what else is in your ratties' diet :)

Re: Bonding advice needed

Time, patience and lots of love :) Just take everything very slowly with cuddles little and often, and lots of nice food offered by hand :) Be confident when you pick him up, showing him your hands first and speaking to him to flag up what you're doing, get him used to the idea that foofing, sidling...

Re: Boisterous youngsters with oldies?

Hello... I wouldn't separate your girls. Most rats can cope with pingy youngsters. My groups are all mixed ages, and if my OAPs are still ambling around, interested, eating and not visibly overwhelmed, they will stay in the same group and the same cage for all of their days (maybe with the layouts c...

Re: introducing a new rat?

Hello :)

How are your boys?

Sorry that you didn't get any replies before :(

I'd probably have moved everyone in together on the same day if everything was going that well, after scrubbing and rearranging the main cage. What did you decide to do?

I haven't had problems with this type of chewing; just bumping this in case anyone else has any ideas.

Did you try the sprays?

Sorry that you didn't get any replies earlier :(

What did you decide to do with your girls' living arrangements? Have there been any more squabbles?

Re: Poor Sherbert :(

How are the girls now? Have the settled?

If not - I'd go back a step with intros. Remove igloos and tubes from the cage, anything that can be guarded or defended. If there is no snoozecube, it may break Winnie's habit of driving Sherbert out of bed :)

Poor Cosmo :( How is he, now?

I just use saline for wound cleaning, but other people swear by Hibiscrub :)
