Re: Substrate- how necessary?

Hi there.....have you tried either Back2Nature or Papelit on the base and then top with Finacard ? I find it works really well. The rats like it and they can dig as much as they like...I just `fluff` it up now and again and I find that now I only have to clean out every two weeks instead of every ot...

Re: Metal Cage Bases? & questions about builing your own...

I have a stainless steel base in my Abode and it is fantastic, I love it !! I`ve had it ages and it still is shiny and new.....Definitely , stainless is best. It is impervious to everything and well worth the money. :D

Re: Need help picking out new cage (old one was bitten through)

Hi there..I`ve just been reading through all this and I agree with Hanlou. I`ve had rats for years too with more than a few cages  but haven`t made any drastic mistakes , thank goodness ! Looking on the same site...what about something like this ? It is at sale price. http://www.petco.com/prod...

Re: Easibed - Confused!

Only too pleaed to help Laura. Let us know what you decide on. Lost girl...I used Megazorb years ago with my guinea pigs and hated it....It`s powdery :rollred: I use B2N with Finacard but the B2N on it`s own is fine too. My rats seem to like it. Ecobed seems to be popular on here so I may give that ...

Re: Easibed - Confused!

Aww...Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings :rollred: I know Carefresh is expensive as I use it sometimes for my mice. Have you looked at Finacard ? Dilip is the guy from there and is a member here. They do a pretty good deal with free delivery if you wanted to try it. I`ll come back with the link. ...

Re: Easibed - Confused!

Hi Laura....here you are...http://www.easibed.co.uk/ See what you think. It looks like it has citronella or similar added to it which isn`t good for ratties but see what the others say about it. I hope you haven`t wasted your money. Where did you buy it ? They might replace it for you with something...

Re: Easibed - Confused!

Hi Laura....I`ve never used it but I think it is wood based. Are you confusing it with Ecobed which is paper based ( cardboard) ? I don`t know anything about wood based stuff so hopefully someone will come along to advise you on it as a substrate. I`ll have a `google` to see what it says about it. :...

Re: my cages

Oh, that`s Bella....She is like my Lois ...She`s lovely.

I didn`t notice that the cage was meshed....You`ve done a really good job with that. I once had to mesh a cage while I had babies and it didn`t look as good as that ! haha !
