Re: Baytril Dosage

for all my boys i give the dosage of 0.4ml per med serving. i use 8 squeeses of metacam for my boys aswell as its hard to use a syringe to get it out the bottle, its equivilant to 0.3ml or 0.4ml. if i have a younger rat then i would use a lower dosage but rats over 4 months get the 0.4ml

Re: Vets bill

my vet did say it would be expensive so i was thinking around £150-£200 but when i went to pay they said £70ish i was very surprised. they are a very small practice and i trust my vet 100%, he is a dog and cat vet but knows about rats aswell.

Re: Vets bill

i spent £203 on an emergency vets bill to save one of my 9 mon th old boys lives. he had a sudden onset of pneumonia and needed emergency care at 8pm on a sunday. i drove 45 mins to get to the vets. my mum found out and moaned about it. i had the comments about how they would have killed him for £10...

Re: How to convince a vet to try Draxxin... - please help!

Re: Which is your favourite hammock maker?

i love looking at the designs on fuzzbutts and think they have some of the best made hammocks on the net. they also have alot of materials to choose from. yes they are expensive but when they are that well made and with so much materials to choose from and hammock designs then that is ok. fuzzbutt c...

Re: advice needed urgently!!

i use ronaxan with zithromax for resp issues. i crush 1 tablet (20mg) and then put into a small egg cup, add 3ml of water and mix. for each rat i give a 0.3ml dosage, along with a 0.4ml dosage of zithromax. this is twice daily. i mix mine with yoghurt, tesco value kids yoghurt, on a spoon and they f...

Re: How to convince a vet to try Draxxin... - please help!

baytril is used on cattle so wont your vet give you that either. seems a silly reason, maybe he should look it up and see if its safe for rats instead of assuming it wont be ok.

Re: Abscess needs to be lanced but can't go under

my vet lances without an aneasthetic. if the lump is somewhere where it will really hurt the rat to cut, like martris had a lump on his stomcah the vet gives a local aneasthetic in the area and then does it. for a few days you will have to keep opening the wound to get all of the gunk out. then when...

Re: Baytril and...? for respiratory problems.

for any resp issues i always use zithromax and ronaxan. baytril dosent seem to get to the problem. metacam is for pain and inflammation so i only use that for swollen feet etc or if they have a bad wound that is painful.

i have used this on 1 of my rats as he was too old to neuter. it lasts about 6 weeks (i believe, so dont quote me on that) after about 3-4 weeks you should know if it changes the behaviour of the rat
