You can touch the babies - that's how they grow up lovely and socialised. Have you checked the babies for milk bands?

Mum looks like a normal mink hooded to me too, minks can never decide what they want to be!!

No breeds as such in rats - they are different varieties.

But yes they can all live together - the same way black rats can live with white rats. ;)

what i am saying is why breed for hairless the only reason? i see is to have a trophy rat whom personally i think is an abnormal rat All pet rats, at a very basic level are 'abnormal' though. They have been selectively bred to live in cages for human pleasure. I know exactly where you are coming fr...

If I had the choice of taking on my favourite variety, or a less favourite one, I'd pick the less favourite. But that seems silly to me. If the two rats were equally in need of a home, why choose the 'less favourite'? Nobody owns rats for purely altrusitic reasons - we all get something back from o...

Groin spots won't affect judging in the pets class as markings are not a consideration. Rats woul be marked down for them if shown in the hooded class of the varieties section though.

Well done to Jack though - he must be gorgeous!

My week younger minky top ear Violet (in my avatar) is svelte and slinky unlike Lily - I was blaming the dumbo ears because Ellie is a bit of a lump too (although she is 2 on Saturday! :birthday: )

Mod note: cute pics and discussion of individual rats in Your Rats please. thanks.

Any rescue worth their salt (and Furry Friends most definitely is in my opinion ) will not home a rat to an unsuitable home (ie if you say you dno't feel you can cope with 'problem' rats, they won't be offered to you) and will always be completely honest about any problems and the situation the rats...
