Lump in front of eye
Pippa has a small lump likehalf a pea in the front corner of her left eye, sort of where her tear duct would be. She has porphyryn around both eyes, but no more than usual (old myco lumpy lady, so porphryn is normal). Whipping her off to the vets tomorrow, just wondered if anyone had an idea what it...

Re: Swollen abdomen
Aside from Metacam and offering soft foods in case she is having problems digesting, does anyone have any thoughts on how we can make her more comfortable?

Re: Swollen abdomen
Apparently it is an inoperable abdominal mass
Prognosis poor
Just got to try and keep her comfortable and monitor her.

Re: Swollen abdomen
Well we spoke with the vets again around 10pm last night and she said as Jasmine was eating/grooming/drinking etc and hadn't deteriorated at all that she was probably not an emergency and ok to leave until this morning. She has not passed any poo at all overnight. Adam has scooted her over to the ve...

Re: Swollen abdomen
Well the 2nd emergency vet was much more helpful :) She listened to me and asked questions like is she eating etc? I just offered Jasmine a treat and she took it. The vet has said to put her in a cage by herself for a few hours and see if she is eating/drinking/pooing, phone her back in a few hours ...

Adam thinks she looks consiptated/bloated but how he knows that I don't know
Emergency vets were naff all help over the phone, they said they can't give any advice without seeing her, they weren't even willing to let me describe symptoms
Am going to try phoning another.

Re: Swollen abdomen
Just to add that she seems fairly perky, she's grooming and climbing around, but I do think something is making her feel uncomfortable

Swollen abdomen
She was perfectly fine yesterday. However I thought Jasmine was acting a bit odd earlier as she pushed her way under her snuggle cup, dragging both her back legs. But then she walked away normally and I thought no more off it. Now i wish i'd checked her more closely so I could have taken her to a ve...

I sympathise. I really do hope things work out for you, we all know our ratties are priceless but unfortunately our bank balances do not agree! Tbh, there was no way I could afford £400 for Milo, I wasn't even given a quote so I nearly fainted at the final bill. Anyhoo, in the past now. I know...

Re: Fluro-urine and poorly tail. *PICS*
Quite frankly, the man's a complete idoit! Just re-reading rattysnuggler'spost and I see he's already managed to offend her twice! That's why i didn't even consider taking Dexter to him when he had his bad lumps, no way. I don't believe he has much time for smallunexciting animals like rats and he s...

Yeah, C J Hall, in East Sheen. Been to his practice before and saw his partner, Mr Fildes, who helped Chassie when he breathing issues. :-? I had a very bad experience with C J Hall, which left me £400 lighter and with one dead rat  It was when Milo had pneumonia and he basically kept draggi...

Probably it would have been, but didn't really think about it at the time and he's been buried in our garden for three days now

Re: Rspca confused?
It's just policy for all their animals to stop idiots breeding from them, a lot of the larger places do it. Wood Green animal shelter where i got Milo and Seb from also routinely neutered all their pets, including rats. I wonder why none of them can be homed with other males. I wonder if they are al...

Re: Multiple little lumps - what can they be?
Dexter was pts on Saturday
Please see obit section.
If anyone wants photos of Dexter's lumps for reference (i.e. for a rat health website), please feel free to ask. I would hope that maybe it could help another owner in the future, as we struggled so much to find out what it was.
