Thanks for the info Joolz. I intend to check it all out and then post on here what I find. (Whether it is good news or bad for my vet). I think this is important because his professionalism has been questioned and also because I told MilkyBMXer to use him. But for the record I must state that until ...

Firstly, I am shocked by the serious allegations made about my vet. I do hope these can be backed up with hard evidence. I am investigating what has been said and will post again when I have done this. Secondly, the rat health care event is not run for profit. The entry fee covers more lunch and aft...

Hi Alex Was it Lyndon that treated your rats again? If so, I think that he has given your rats his "Magic Cocktail". It said this about it in the handouts from his Rat Health Care Day I attended: "All fancy rats carry mycoplasma but tend to get sick when their immune system is lowered...

You've not been having much luck lately, first your babies have an infection and now this horrible wound. But the good news is they often look so much worse than they really are and as others here have said they do heal up very fast. I expect that by the time you return on Monday she will be healing...

I'm so sorry to hear that Susie has lost her leg. Marius is doing well in his adhesive bandage. We saw the vet last night who said we may be lucky and avoid amputation. We have to keep him in the bandage until Friday and then see how he gets on. Reading about how Susie is recovering has made me real...

Hi Kitkat Sorry to hear about poor Susie. My boy Marius was treated for a broken hind leg yesterday. The poor little boy has broken it in 3 places and it's also dislocated. My vet has also said that ratties have amazing powers of healing and can offen recover from breaks in just a few weeks. It's pr...

Hi Guys Thanks for all the kind words and advice. I saw the xray of the leg. It's a very bad break, in fact it looked smashed up and to make matters worse it's also dislocated. Lyndon hasn't splinted it, he's got it wrapped in position with an adhesive bandage. He said wants Marius to hold it with h...

Well I've just spoken to my vet. Marius has broken his leg in 3 places and the highest break is very close to his hip. My vet agrees that splinting this leg is difficult but he has tried to and will explain everything when we collect Marius this afternoon. He wants to see Marius again on Monday. But...

Possible Broken Hind Leg

There was a lot of scrapping going on between my boys last night. Marius was coming off worst as he seems to be at the bottom of the pecking order. Any way I got him out because he'd made a deafing shriek, I checked him all over for blood/wounds, gave him a nice cuddle to settle him down and returne...

Hi Jules

Great to hear that Shelby is OK now.
Mungo is slowly improving but I'm about to start a thread about Marius. He has a suspected broken leg :(

Please give a scritch behind the ear to Shelby. I can't wait to meet her and your other furries next Saturday.

Hi Jules

It's good to hear that Shelby is improving. I can understand your reluctance to take her to the vets in this heat. I had to take Mungo yesterday by bus & train. It was awful and he got very hot & bothered.

Scritches to Shelby

Love Alison

Hi Alex

Let me know how Tsu gets on when you go back to the vet. I do hope you can see Lyndon. He is a great rat vet.

I recommended this practice. The head vet Lyndon is an excellent rat vet but unfortunately wasn't taking appointments on Saturday when Alex went. I believe the female vet on duty was a locum and therefore may not have had as much rat experience. I was there myself on Saturday and saw one of the regu...
