Re: Pros and Cons of early neuter please?

You'd need a standardised extract. It comes in a tablet form and a liquid form, I have experience with the tablet form and have used this brand - http://www.healthstore.uk.com/p70315/quest-agnus-castus-30-tablets.html It's not forced to work, but it is relatively cheap, and it is worth a shot I thin...

Re: Reggie Rat

Right, I thought you were taking specifically there. I apologise, and agree that would be the best way to continue. Okay dokey ... glad we got that straight (pardon the pun, can't help myself  ). It is a fact, but calcium deficiency is a problem that extends further than to simply straights. I...

Re: Ab's not working.....what next??

Noroclav can work for some resp infections, but it isn't active against Myco at all. You could also try Draxxin (can be expensive, usually a large animal treatment) or Erythromycin which are both macrolide antibiotics loosely related to Zithromax.

Re: Pros and Cons of early neuter please?

You could try him on Agnus Castus in an attempt to 'take the edge off' his hormone levels until you're happy to castrate him ... if he still needs it by then, the Agnus Castus may be enough to get him through the adjustment period and you may find that he does calm down again as he matures both phys...

It probably won't stop completely but it should lessen some over time ... it's normal for girls to do this, it's not really sexual though it will happen more when someone is in season, it forms part of dominance behaviour.

Re: Excessive humping - any deterrents?

I've not really heard of Agnus Castus, what is it and where can I get it? How would give it to them? Definately interested in trying it out. It's a herbal remedy that balances the sex hormones. You can get it online in various places. It comes in both a tablet form and a liquid form. I've used the ...

Re: Reggie Rat

What has been excessive in mine, or anyones, critical evaluation here? I have been talking about this aspect of things in general terms and I have not been speaking about any replies in this thread specifically ... and I don't really want to get into what I think is 'right' or 'wrong' about any one...

Re: Reggie Rat

I have probably fed a mainly straights based diet for longer than most (since at least 2007), and over the years this has evolved and changed a great deal. Like most who mix their own diets, sometimes change is just for the sake of change and sometimes it's for a particular reason, so I can't guara...

Re: Feeding a 8week old

Can you tell me what sort of age they reach their full size? I wouldn't consider a rat to be truly fully grown until they are about 12 months old ... for some rats there is little change between around 6 months and 12 months of age, but for others there can be considerable change, so it is difficul...

Re: Reggie Rat

I just wanted to say that I've fed a dozen or so hairless rats on a mainly straights based diet and they have been fine on the same diet as their furrier chums, except I tend to give the hairless an extra protein meal once a week or so. I hope that helps. Thank you for your input toyah, it is indee...

Re: Reggie Rat

So when straights weren't around everyone was balanced in their replies? This I find hard to imagine, which is why it does come across like a vendetta against straights. I'm not saying it is, and in fact I am sure it is not as TRW wouldn't sell the SG if that were the case, but it certainly does fe...

Re: Reggie Rat

I also completely agree that help should be offered to everybody regardless of which diet is followed but as I said in my last post, I can only speak for myself, it's not my place to comment on what other people may be thinking but I've not encountered any of the issues that have been mentioned. Th...

Re: Common health problems for female rats?

Older does can, and will benefit from spaying as well, but not so much as younger does. My experiences with spaying girls at the same time as first lumpectomy haven't actually shown any differences here. The results have always been the same (no more mammary tumours), even in girls as old as 21 mon...

Yes, because it contains vitamins and you can OD some of those.
